Their realistic in terms of weapons, vehicles, voices ect. They just don't want to be Politically Correct when having to choose factions to fight eachother, it makes for interesting gameply. Just like the MEC don't exist, but it gives the devs free range on molding it to their liking and having them fight whoever.

The goal of the mod is to tackle a military simulator and immerse yourself in the life on the battlefield as a soldier. If it had anything to do with real events there would be a single player story campaign included.

@CompulsiveTom yep, they sent 110.000 troops only...and they fighted 140.000 mercinaries and lunatics from all over the world and arabic countrys who was backed up by americans british pakistan saudi arabia and egypt. and it wasnt conventionall warfare, if it would be conventwar. no one had a chance against soviets. they left afg with communistic gov and controlled all citys and pushed them out of afganistan to pakistan border. americans try to payback for what they got in vietnam

@Pizack3 All factions use this weapon. It's a squad leader radio to allow faster placement of map markers, which were limited to 1 per minute due to a change in the way BF2 handled UAVs to fix the UAV spawn hack.

=) It's also more realistic in a sense.

In the Battlefield 2 v1.5 patch, a limitation to the amount of map markers the Commander can place was hardcoded to one per minute, which made our marker system limited and not as useful as we would like.

Since then we worked on alternative systems and came up with the Squad Leader Radio "weapon" . The idea is to use the direction the player is facing and a distance set in the HUD of that weapon as a way to determine where a marker should be placed.

Yes, the 0.9 version introduces a playable Israeli Defence Force faction, along with a playable Canadian Forces faction.
