They are basically PVC type material on the inside and then they are dipped in foam to form the outside. They are ATA brand but I got them off ebay. I have broken multiple pairs so they are not for heavy use.

The only problem with that is I don't want to fight with them. But thanks, they are for weapon competition only. I'll pass on the wood/chain ect and stick with my dense foam ones that work just fine.

that shows promice, but... your holding them in the wrong place, grip the middle of the bottom third of the shaft (the 'kikon-bu' area IIRC) not at the chain.

also, never open your hand on a perfectly good weapon, looks all flashy n stuff but all it really does is open up the likely hood of dropping it (and the probibility of your oponent knocking it out of your hand), you could say it doesnt do any harm but i advise you dont develope the habit.

and, keep at it :)

Thats the way my instructor taught us to hold it. It isnt for fighting, just forms, thats why we do the flashy moves, standing doing basic moves will get you nada. But im done, i had to stop sincew i moved to college. Ill pick it up one day again.
