i believe this is the best theme song ive heard... it is very difficult to portray emotions through instrumental music but this song is full of emotion
How could anyone dislike this? This is the hymn for the fallen solders of American, British, and other allied troops. The loss of these men may have caused to your existence, if we lived in a world without any brave men to stop tyrannical idealists like Hitler, then i don't know if i would be here typing this message. "I hate war as only a soldier who has lived it can, only as one who has seen its brutality, its futility, its stupidity."
I watched this when I was about 8, I think. (My brother had gotten the box set for my father for Christmas) I was the only person in the whole household to watch the whole thing, and I have to admit, I bawled my eyes out when I finally finished it. It was an amazing series, I can't wait to watch it again.
I bet the people who disliked this video was kids who didnt like the song. Kids these days have no respect for others and little on for those who served our country at this time. They lost brothers, fathers, sons, and friends for the sake of others. Then these stupid kids dislike it for the song.
@schicic - It's because they are not taught of the sacrifice these men gave. Of the duty, honor, country that THEY understood. Today's children are taught that self esteem is most important; that the U.S. is some evil country that is trying to build a world empire. That is why the kids dislike this. They have no knowledge and do not understand what these men went through so today's mollycoddled children can have hate-filled rap "music" on their iPods.
@PvtStig - Agreed. Unfortunately, we have to make generalizations about the epic failure of public education in this country. This does not mean that everyone that survives public education has a room temperature IQ. I just meant to say that, in general, public education has failed it's customers (students AND parents) because they place more emphasis on things other than academics.
@B17Boy I have to agree. People say I'm dull and its my parents fault because I'm always reading about history. It's sad that when I talked to some of my classmates and they have no idea what WWII was, and I'm 14!
@schicic Listen, they dont matter. What matters is that men did this. I am English. My country has been in a tight spot on a few occasions in the 945 years since the Norman invasion. We are grateful that Americans travelled 3000 miles to help liberate Europe in 1944 and I wont forget that. Nor will I forget that my dad volunteered in 1939 and fought until 1945 when he was badly wounded. He died two years ago. They created history, and we know they did.
Rest in peace Major Richard D. Winters and all deceased members of Easy Company 101st, We will never forget the sacrifice you and your company made so that all others may enjoy the freedom we have today. I salute you as I'm sure many others do. Thank you for all you did to save europe.
war is just crap. if everybody could just have some common sense in themselves millions of lives over the years could have been saved and sadness couldve been avoided for a fallen brother or any family member being killed by any person. war is just senseless murder in my opinion. you kill a nazi. you kill a terrorist. they are still people and most people cant understand what they are doing to the world. its just stupid
@epicyouman im sorry to disagree with but sometimes war is the only option, and have you ever herd the quote "as long as there are humans there will always be war"
@dethbang13 i have heard that quote. but i made my own a while ago "wars are fought for the right reason, but they are hardly ever started for the right reason. WWII started cuz a mad man wanted power. that doesnt seem like a good reason to start an entire war that caused millions upon millions of deaths.
@epicyouman and let the mad man kill even more yes thats a perfectly good reason to not start a war, listen sometimes people just need to be stopped, this was an era where everything was on the line, its actually one of the reasons we recovered from the stock market
The cost of war is never too great when the freedom of the world is at stake. When those of us fight to set our brethren free, no price is too high. And should those brave souls fall, honor them shall the free, for it is their cause for whih they have perished. And yet even though men fight for the side that holds freedom in chains, these men fight not for the oppression of others, but because the country they hold dear beckons them to fight. Never disrespect those who fought with honor.
Usually, after the first episode of a TV series, i usually skip the intro, having seen it once already, but something compelled me to watch the intro...every episode...i didnt want to skip it, i felt it was wrong to skip the intro...its so powerful and incredible...the scene at 1:50 gets me everytime, its amazing...
As a 77year old Englishman approaching the end of my life may I once again pay tribute to this generation of men and women who fought so valiantly for the cause of Democracy & Freedom. I was a boy during the war and have been able to grow up and lead a good life free from the horror of a Nazi system. God Bless you all for your many acts of sacrifice.
@sheff99 we all appreciate it. I'm 41, never known war. My kids are 12 and 15, the only war they know is on the PS3. This series has shown us all just what war is about, its goriness, its passion, its horror and its achievement. I've been to Toccoa, seen the original site of the camp, even run up the original Currahee. These guys were heroes, but there were many, many more, and they all deserve our respect, admiration and deep, deep respect.
This song is truly breathtaking. This year, we're doing a show in marching band and our third song is this one. We're honoring all of the people who have died in wars, especially in wwii
@IDimeBarI hey, the first time i have heard this song, It actually brought tears to my eyes. It was so beautiful. same with the second and third times. Also, I thought of all those poor brave soldiers and that's also what made me get tears. :( they should get the medal of honor. This song touches my heart every time I hear it.
This has to be one of the most, absolutely, heart grabbing,in-depth amazing series I've yet to encounter. It sends shrills down my body each time i hear this music. It's just so glorious and wonderful and... there's just really no words that can explain the way it makes one feel.
Its because of these soldiers, that I am walking around freely in my country today. If it werent for them, I would be dead in a nazi concentration camp.
My deepest thanks and respects to these soldiers for granting me my freedom
Well keep in mind that this mini-series is made by Americans for Americans and from an American perspective. If Germany or Russia wants to make a series from their perspective, they are certainly welcome to do so. I would watch it.
i agree they should make at least the russian side of it.... but the truth is that then they would have to replace actors for every episode if ya know what i am talking about...
@Pribinace It would just like that first level from a russian soldier perspective in Call of Duty 1. You start with no rifle with a bunch of comrades at your side and crawling up a hill that has a bunch of german MGs at the top. Text book massacre.
It's an instrumental version of the song "Requiem for a Soldier." I think there may be a link to the vocal version it was based after in the Related Videos scroll area.
I realy like the film because it is authentic, and there are no rambo scenes and that kind of shit....there are normal people who somehow try to survive the war,and not to impress the girls with teir big guns!!
too bad there is no such video about the germans side of things,or the french,or the serbian partizans....they was too a part of the war and they died as well for their homeland.
@Onhaus92 yes but the nazi's are evil. Not the russians. Hitler killed a lotta jews. He was part jewish or so I have heard. I have great respect for those soldiers who died for their homeland.
The proper way to honor everyone who has fought, died or lived in any war is to do our best to solve all of our future problems in a non-violent way. Use every means that we have to strive for peace. Those who fight for our freedom or anyone else's freedom give everything they have, risk everything they are to basically be a tool of our governments. Everyone who has fought for our country does so in hopes that no one will ever have to pick up arms against another, ever again. Honor them!
It was not for nothing. Fighting to give others freedom is never nothing. War is terrible, but not so terrible as what some people will do to others in the name of an ideology or resources. Freedom is the only antidote to these other terrors, but it is costly. Thank God for men like these, and pray we always have their type if we ever need them.
This makes me shiver just listening to it- war sucks, thousands (even millions) may die in a single war, and for what? Territorial claims, fame, and power? Hitler is a perfect example, of course- he wanted the "jewish" problem gone from the Earth, and not just them, but gypsies, homosexuals, and others as well. What is the point of war? People die over these asshole's wantings, they die for nothing. But they will not be forgotten.
for those of you who don't know "The Pacific" is a another war series made by Tom Hanks and Steven Spielberg about (obviously) the pacific war its coming out in march of 2010 i believe
Sorry but if you read at the end of the book "Beyond Band of Brothers" you will see that Popey, Joe, Garnaure, Bull, Harry, Nixon, Webster, Liebgot, Speirs, Doc Roe, Don Malarkey, Lipton, Shifty,Christenson, Luz and many other are died
that book is from 2008 mabye Perconte and Winters are past.
everybody needs to shut the fuck up every soldier in WW2 should be remembered including german italian and japanese troops even though they looked bad to us they were just serving there country lets be honest all axis veterans should be recognized and all troops also australians russians french polish (for the stupid people who dont know poland served in WW2) and americans also. All im saying is americans are not the only ones who deserve attention im american and im saying this
I think War is about three classes of people; there are Politicians (the fat guys who start wars), Soldiers (the poor sods who fight wars and die in them) and Civilians (the poor folks who get starved, bombed and ultimately suffer the loss of their husbands, fathers and sons). I've known men who wore both the German uniform and American uniform. They all shared the "Incommunicable experience of war," and were forever changed by it.
Who cares what nation had more troops, fewer troops in Normandy.. every last one deserves true recognition and respect (including US and Australian soldiers, and every single on in between).
@swgoliath my grandfather was in easy company. he made the drop with them< and got sent home after taking some shrapnel to his right leg in the battle of the bulge. before foy, and i just wanted to say that i thank you and i agree. i have met a couple of the others. and they are all heroes. i have never met anyone more brave than some of the men he served with. so if youi ever meet a veteran always thank him and shake his hand. our veterans are heroes because they dont want to be heroes.
smokerface shut the hell up. In the series there are brittains alongside E company as well. Ofc not only the us has to be honoured but you forget this is a series about 1 particulair company. every single man who fought during WWO 2 is being honoured and rememberd. Dont forget. Ur anger is a disgrace towards these people.
My great-grandfather was in the 101st airborn division. He got to fight alongside Easy Company and manage the radio box at the battle of Bastion. I wish he were still alive so I could have heard his stories. Unfortunately he passed away before my birth. Happy Memorial Day everyone, Americans, British, Germans, French, and other countries alike. God Bless your veterens.
Probably the best series on tv. These brave men gave there all to fight for us, and when they came home, we just gave them a few claps and that was it. I seriously think they should have gotten a better "welcome home" parade to really tell them we cared and was glad for what they did
R.I.P To the brave men who served in the United States Army. God be with you
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
oh so it was the us who saved us???
strange then why where the russians in berlin first? why where there aussies on the beaches in france? where there no bittans? onlu us army should be honoured??????????? strange i think.
Ok, there are several things wrong with your logic and you need to brush up on your history. One of the main reasons the Russians were able to fight back, was because Stalin pulled troops from Siberia and the far East of Russia because he was informed that the Japanese were focusing on European colonies in Asia and the US Fleet. The Australians in Normandy were among the Commonwealth troops that MADE the British army. The British were shown very frequently throughout the series as well.
"30 seconds!!! To go, Sarg!!!" Listen up!!!? Alright men, those germans bunkers over there you can see, are very heavly garded and we need to take those nazi pigs down for 1 and for all brothers in this boat we wont let us take any retreat just forward for everyone in this countery "5 seconds, guys!!!" Clear on the road!!!" Soldiers: 1: Shit!!!? Am, hit!!! 103: Oh, God!!! 61; Fuck, Christ!!! I cant move, my legs!!! Sir. 87: We need, backup over here sir.
most films i can watch, enjoy, then walk out the room and carry on with my day.
with band of brothers, it grips me. it pulls me in. i feel what they feel, i cant get away from the face that its true. it's not some fun little story it's real peoples lives and what they sacrificed for the millions who werent even born.
The actors portray it excellently, and the music just makes it even more amazing.
Thank you to everyone involved in the film, and everyone single one of those men.
love this tune, really brings sense to you, such good series best i have ever seen, but the sadest part is that ever bit of the series was real and it just reminds you how lucky u are! :( Honor the brave people who gave their lives.
I honestly can't believe there are still people here in the Netherlands who are Nazi. Knowing this, you must know it is wrong to kill other people because of who they are and how they are born.
If you live in Europe, how can you approve all this killing? Your grandparents went trough all of this, don't they ever told you how horrible those times were?
I bet they did, and believe me, they don't say that for nothing.
We should all learn from the past so that this will never ever happen again.
Soldiers of WW2 who died and still life. Thanks for freeing the netherlands, Fuck Hitler, I got nazi's in my class, the do the Hitlergreeting (ye know, putting ye hand up 'That way', the whole time) FUCK HITLER.
Hitler's biggest and stupidest mistake of the war. STALINGRAD. Hitler was greedy and wanted Stalingrad.. big mistake... and Germany payed HUGE for it.. losing one of their best allies (the Soviet) and that Germnay got no resources... so all in all this i beilieve was Hitler's biggest mistake. and if he didnt make that mistake then who knows... Europe could be Nazi Germnay right now... And God Bless all of the soldiers in Easy Company who gave their lives for what we have today.
he was not very stupid, more like evil. If he was stupid, then it would have been much better because he would not be able to start the holocaust. And your right, he should have never gone against russia, cuz the were more powerful IMO. Great show btw.
I don't think that the Nazis could have done it. They lost when they started to believe in 18 and 88. They were lunatics. I don't see any sense in discussing such theses. They were losers before they even started. May God bless the victims of the sorriest bunch of zeroes ever.
Thanks to all fighters for freedom. We are forever in your debt. And that debt we will only pay by protecting our free world that you brought us!I don't i don't like germans.Germans are the same people like any other.
salute to easy company!

Quite an unusualy long intro for a contemporary TV series. But I like it nonetheless (though it sometimes feels a bit too sentimental)... :-)

everybody needs to shut the fuck up every soldier in WW2 should be remembered including german italian and japanese troops even though they looked bad to us they were just serving there country lets be honest all axis veterans should be recognized and all troops also australians russians french polish (for the stupid people who dont know poland served in WW2) and americans also. All im saying is americans are not the only ones who deserve attention im american and im saying this
joanis2000 2 years ago 2
I think War is about three classes of people; there are Politicians (the fat guys who start wars), Soldiers (the poor sods who fight wars and die in them) and Civilians (the poor folks who get starved, bombed and ultimately suffer the loss of their husbands, fathers and sons). I've known men who wore both the German uniform and American uniform. They all shared the "Incommunicable experience of war," and were forever changed by it.
BullRun1861 2 years ago 4
@joanis2000 To us they're evil. For them ( some of the axis ), we are evil. Some of them know they are evil.

Who cares what nation had more troops, fewer troops in Normandy.. every last one deserves true recognition and respect (including US and Australian soldiers, and every single on in between).

Band of brothers series and saluted them all...
They are truly heroes, no.... they are father and sons that fought in an ARMY of heroes.
They will never be forgotten, may you brave souls live 4 ever in our memories...

You really saluted them?
casdebom2 1 year ago
@swgoliath my grandfather was in easy company. he made the drop with them< and got sent home after taking some shrapnel to his right leg in the battle of the bulge. before foy, and i just wanted to say that i thank you and i agree. i have met a couple of the others. and they are all heroes. i have never met anyone more brave than some of the men he served with. so if youi ever meet a veteran always thank him and shake his hand. our veterans are heroes because they dont want to be heroes.

God be with you

oh so it was the us who saved us???
strange then why where the russians in berlin first? why where there aussies on the beaches in france? where there no bittans? onlu us army should be honoured??????????? strange i think.
SmokerFace12 2 years ago
Ok, there are several things wrong with your logic and you need to brush up on your history. One of the main reasons the Russians were able to fight back, was because Stalin pulled troops from Siberia and the far East of Russia because he was informed that the Japanese were focusing on European colonies in Asia and the US Fleet. The Australians in Normandy were among the Commonwealth troops that MADE the British army. The British were shown very frequently throughout the series as well.

most films i can watch, enjoy, then walk out the room and carry on with my day.
with band of brothers, it grips me. it pulls me in. i feel what they feel, i cant get away from the face that its true. it's not some fun little story it's real peoples lives and what they sacrificed for the millions who werent even born.
The actors portray it excellently, and the music just makes it even more amazing.
Thank you to everyone involved in the film, and everyone single one of those men.

I don't think that the Nazis could have done it. They lost when they started to believe in 18 and 88. They were lunatics. I don't see any sense in discussing such theses. They were losers before they even started. May God bless the victims of the sorriest bunch of zeroes ever.
