I've watched and tuned my stanley no4 using this technique, but I watched it in a Rob Cosman's DVD. Works great afterwards (for those disputing the sole flattening technique)
I'd have been more sold if there was a before and after demonstration. The plane most likely worked well enough to begin with. BTW would this guy be dangerous with a surface grinder or what?
The video jumps the important parts, could have been better to explain and show the process with three to five second shots and close ups, otherwise its kind of ok...not the best of tutorials tough, .

This is NOT the way to get the sole of a plane flat-

This is quite possibly the most useless video that I have ever watched.

no matter how good the plane, or how much it cost.... all these steps need to be done, to get the best performance

or you can just buy A Veritas or Lie Nielsen plane..

The way this guy flattens the sole is really amateuristic. The abrasive
isn't even glued down, it's just loose.

Great vid!!, a good lesson and tutorial. Better acoustics though, the vocal was boomy and slightly distorted.

I would love if it was more detailed tutorial video! But instead we have highlights of what it could be. Can we count on better version of it?

you don't need to flatten and polish so much of the back of the blade.
half an inch or so is enough.
