There is work but pay is low. Things are cheaper than in the West Coast so it can be very affordable. Mostly sunny or dry, some snow mostly on the hills. About five to fifteen snowy days, about fifteen to thirty rainy days THE WHOLE YEAR! Cooler or cold most of the year. Very hot in the summer. Beautiful surroundings, lots of things to do outdoors and in the city. Must be fit and energetic to enjoy, not for couch potatoes (pun intended)
I miss Boise! I grew up there for 18 years. In the summer, Boise is second to none! In the winter, you better like skiing or snowboarding or else you're pretty much trapped inside.
Boise is a cold miserable place. City of trees- what a joke. Nice brown film covers the city. No land use laws, urban sprawl, open enrollment in boise schools cuz no one wants their kids in them. Air quality issues definitely a major problem in the future. LA/Denver/Boise = air quality problems. Constuction based economy and will be slow to recovery out of this. If your looking to live in the northwest try Bend, Oregon.
@barnyardbabe Live music depressing? No, but Boise definitely does not have a good live music scene. Try Austin and get back to me. And I was actually in Boise yesterday and it was freaking snowing. The weather sucks there, 6+ months of hell, but I am only giving my opinion and trying save someone who hates crap weather from moving to Boise.
@christopherwilmoth Calm down little girl. I am just trying to save someone from making a mistake and moving to Boise. Some people like it, to each his own, but low paying jobs, construction based economy, horrible weather 5-6 months out of the year. Religion has too much of an influence in boise, the city is run by complete morons, from the mayor to the city council, redundant unnecessary layers of bureaucracy. If you do business in boise, you would know what I am talking about.
@walkonhome Don't listen to walkonhome. I live in Boise and have been many other places, but Boise in a unique place. During the summer, this is a great place to live- the clean river, parks and the North End. Boise actually has 2 high schools that are in the country's top 500. And yeah, West Boise sucks but everything east of downtown is great. And it's only cold and polluted in the winter. You obviously don't know what you're talking about.
@bookoodiggydow Do you ever go out to Bonneville Point and walk around. There is usually a big brown film of pollution covering Boise every day. The river is one of the cleanest, but air quality not so much. The city is also run by a troll who keeps pushing the streetcar despite the task force advising otherwise. Just trying to save someone from moving to Boise.
@walkonhome girl? haha. some big businessman? trying to compare the music scene in boise to austin is like comparing the bagels here to new york. and, guess what, religion has too much of an influence EVERYWHERE. tell your friend to put her snowboots on and make the move. its clean, friendly, and one of the highest quality of life cities in the nation. where you from anyway? the weather is personal preference. i know most people here ARE here because of the weather. aaaand again....puss. haha
@christopherwilmoth There is no music scene in Boise and I travel way too much. The air quality in Boise is and will become a bigger problem, but the rest of the state not so much. You are obviously a redneck who likes burning things, fireworks, and must either be very young or an idiot. Keep filiming yourself playing with gas and maybe someday you might get a Darwin Award.
@walkonhome message me next time you layover at BOI and ill take you to a show. Boise's better off without you. Its fun to regurgitate everything you read online isnt it?

FYI- Harrison Blvd is strictly residential and doesn't have any shops. The Antique shop and pictured while talking about Harrison is actually located in Hyde Park on 13th St. Harrison is the a historical street a few blocks over known for its large homes.
Basques have not been in the Boise area or Idaho for 200 years. In fact, ca 1808 there would only have been antive americans. Basques came in the 1880's.
Basques are like super people. They taught the natives how to make teepees. Then they ran back home to fix up their own country that was missing them dearly and then headed back here as soon as they could. We owe all to them. And the main bad dude in Monster's vs. Aliens have Obama's caricature mouth?
