I have never heard of a serval before. I have only seen one other video about a serval. They look like wild animals. Is it a rare species or recently domesticated or what? (If you don't mind the stupid question) :P
$500 is a steal! Depending on what generation it is(F1,F2..) they can cost up to $10,000. Ive heard of people paying close to 20K, but have never seen such
@MsBrehay You'll have to check your state and local laws. Some places require an exotic animal permit, some do not. Some places prohibit keeping them at all. Either way, if you plan to get one, learn about them. They are more work and have specific requirements to be happy and healthy. To be friendly and social requires a lot of time. Generally the Servals you find in the states are domestically bred and raised, not wild.I believe importing wild specimens in now banned, except by zoo's and such.
@GunBroker100 thx for the through comment! lol im wayyy to broke for one of these and dont have enough time to properly care for one...i was just curious! maybe one day...
@GunBroker100 Don't be too sure. Keep you networks open. I got both of mine from people who couldn't care for them. The male was given to me at 6 months because the people didn't realize he would get so big. The female from a couple, again at 6 months, who were afraid it might hurt their kids. I gave $500 for her. Word that I liked larger cats got around and both parties contacted me. They do require a specialized diet, that is a little more expensive than buying cat food, they are worth it.
these videos were so much help ! i have been doing research on them for about a year now and it was nice to see how they behave ! unfortunately i still have a lot of questions before deciding if i should get one. would you mind answering a few of the questions i have?
In this video yes Sunny and May I am just babysitting but I believe they are in heat. That seems to be when they fight like this. It usually does not get much worse than this. Some chasing.

1st Serval: "Is that so? You say that to me one more time, and I'll scratch your eyes out!"
2nd Serval: "Oh no, you won't! I'll scratch YOUR eyes out, instead!"
1st Serval: "Nice try, honey; BUT THIS IS *MY* VANITY! SO BACK OFF, BEFORE I BITE YOUR HEAD OFF!"

You ought to put up a sign on the door to your house:
GUARD CATS ON DUTY
TRESPASSERS WILL BE EATEN
ninjanoxrocks 2 years ago
My 2 F1 Savannahs do that all the time. Ears back, sneering inhale for scent...but usually ends up with one tacking the other LOL!
