Just ordered the base model 13" 2.4ghz i5 from the education store. Been pondering this and the older 15" model for a few months now but went for power over size. Can't wait till delivery :)

I recons that the MacBook Pro for next year will not be refreshed model but the minor redesign (16:9 display, no optical drive)

i think that apple will definitely go for optical drive-less design for all the Mac computer line-up (MB Pro, iMac, and even Mac Pro), but this will cause some hassles for the people who sometimes want to use optical drive as well.

Just so all you idiots know nothing about computers, this is just gossip! Plus to use the new I7 they would have to upgrade cooling systems, right now apple will keeps its computers the same. And unless you edit lots of HD video or render video games the mac pro fro the last 3 years has been over kill for the basic user. Its just a great computer and a high price. noooo I just got a maxed out 15in Macbook Pro 2011 for school about 1 month ago :'( Apple and their damn updates really hurt, you just... NEED to buy the latest one, it's like you're not good enough if you don't HAVE the latest one. Gah, I don't know why it works, how it works, but it works too much.

Totally agree with what you said too about the updates. In fact Apple has changed a lot of schedules this year, now iPhone OR iPod updates till next month, that's later then normal, it won't have time to fit MB Pro updates in by Christmas when money is tight for new computer purchases.
