I say this to my GF everytime the band comes up on SNL.

BTW, I live in Nashville. I've seen Prine walk in late-night to clubs and play. I've also hung out in a couple of local bars where he was just hanging. I've chatted with him too.

He is a wonderful man with a warm heart and great soul.

And of course, a great songwriter.

@094340 I agree with you. I had the chance to meet him years ago in Tampa when he played there, got to go to one of his gigs as a guest...I have always loved his lyrics. He said that everything he wrote came off the toilet...saying that's where he did his best thinking...isn't that the truth!!

Part Deux - This is part of the previous post but I ran out of letters. So anyways grand dad caught me with a broken beer bottle in basement watching me fumble all coked up and stoned trying to clean it up. He watched me and shuffled away. I had been weighed and measured and come up lacking. I looked at Dan and he looked away. Sharon came over to help. Never have I felt so guilty or so completely and rightously dismissed. I graciously didn't call Sharon again.

I was home on leave with a hot girl whose dad owned a Cadiilac Dealership and we snorted a bunch of coke and smoked a bunch of pot with her brother and his girlfriend. We were shooting pool in the basement of his/her basement and I went to the coke machine to get a beer when the bottle fell on the floor and broke right in front of his grand dad and grand mother. I stood frozen like the proverbial deer in the head lights. He said "thats like mother milk, don't spill it" .

I love John Prine and Bob Dylan. Wanted to note after reading the comments that Bob Dylan lists John Prine as one of the people he listens to for inspiration, as did Johnny Cash.

Going to see Prine for the first time in Minneapolis tonight...my mom has seen him many times throughout the 80s, 90s and 2Ks so I am really excited to share this experience.

Really. John Prine doesn't have anything on Bob Dylan except better voice, far better stage presence, more clever lyrics and better story songs.
