Polaris sportsman 500 muzzy exhaust sound check

i'm not a fan of muzzy slip-on's or full systems. hmf is less expensive and sounds way better, imo. and you also need to rejet the carb. you're creating a lean air/fuel mixture, which results in higher egt's(exhaust gas temps). thus, making the exhaust valve or piston more prone to failure due to excessive heat. rejet now or put your factory exhaust back on. this is solid advice.

Its done. I have installed Dynojet Stage 1 kit with their recommended carb settings according to my mods.

Seems to me the engine is running smooth - no smoke, no chokes, but I have no idea about the power gain yet. I tested it in winter so there were some traction issues :) Will do more testing very soon to understand if the mixture is ok now

I also noticed you did nothing to the carbs after putting this on, your gonna wanna get a jet kit and get them to the right setting because it's gonna run lean and you might be losing a little power, you'll feel a difference with the pipe and the jet kit, without the right jet setting its running most likely running lean, you don't wanna score a piston!

Probably you're right! I have been noticing a performance decrease lately. Hopefully I haven't done any serious damage. Oh well... inexperience costs a lot. Will be ordering jet kit right away!

Should have gotten a big gun, my friend had one on his 01 Sportsman 500, 10x louder, and sounds better, not saying the one on there doesn't sound good though

What model is this? I found Muzzies website and there is no option for Polaris.

There was a huge sale on ebay  for this model and maybe they dont make such any more... donno.

This muffler originally was made for Predator 500, but I adopted it on Sporstman easily.

Hey dude sweet sounding pipe...I have a 2009 did a few mods to it. but now i'm at the exhaust system..did you have to do anything with the Carbs when you installed the Muzzy and did you feel a difference in power? Thanks Honkers48

Well... honestly, I didnt felt any difference in power. I wasnt seeking for any power improvements, since it already performs great. So far the only reason why I installed this muffler is my addiction to the sound it makes.

Did nothing to the carbs and the rest bike is all stock.
