Lived in Doha for 6 weeks and the guys building the skyscrapers are practically slaves. If you don't care about that part then it is a pretty cool city but not much to do except for shopping. No interesting old town.
@eddybaby167 Yeah true, you do feel sorry for them sometimes. I was there for over 2 years and got used to the sort of place it was, to the point I actually do miss it a bit. If I wanted a feeling of the 'real' Qatar I'd just drive out into the desert. :)
in 2009 i was in doha for a week. speaking as a person visited almost 10 arab states. for me doha is the most exiting, modern and clear city ever seen. Great malls, nice cars, classic souq restaurans (tajinn).
its a great experience.. just to add electronics are very cheap and so cigarettes :)
@istanbullet Yeah Doha is okay I suppose, I think I'd enjoy Dubai more. As a Westerner I find Qatar frustrating all too often for too many reason. But yes, electronics, cigarettes, cars and some foods are cheap here.
Wow! That's very beautiiful! It's not exactly paradise like Laos. But it's very clean. Laos is a tropical paradise with watefalls, blue lagoons, misty mountains, wild jungles, and Asian elephants. My very favorite place to vacation is Laos.
Hah, it's a beautiful city mate, sure. But it is not a clean one. Contractors always leave rubbish behind at construction sites, there is always rubbish in the streets of Qatar. Never been to Loas, but that sounds truely beautiful. Doha is like a Mercedes Benz kit been made by Chinese farmers. Good materials (usually), poorly skilled workers.
