bullshit... they don't put an acog on every rifle in the marine core... They give you the basic rifle with irons and whatever you want to buy and put on, you can, but when you turn back in the rifle yo have to take it all back off and put the original stuff back on... Trijicon does have a deal and they do give you a discount. So instead of paying, $1200, you can pay $1000...

So can the RMR be mounted directly to the slide of a handgun?

Not quite. No usuable red dot can be mounted to the slide of a handgun. You need a mount that mounts onto the frame and extends over the slide, thus keeping the red dot still.

What about the Doctor, Burris Fastfire and JPoint? They can all be mounted to the slide and they work.

Hmm... you're right, I never really noticed that those were directly slide mounted. In which case, I retract my previous statement. However, I'd generally prefer my RDS frame mounted, though that's just me.

You can find custom Glocks with Caspian slides that do this. Do a Google image search of "Glock reflex". (there's a few on forums like GlockTalk)
