I almost cried when Niles says "I'm going to cancel dinner because I want to be alone." I absolutely love how supportive and sweet Martin and Frasier are to him.
Who ever loves this show please message me .. This show is very intelligant but very funny and a very smart cast and the fans of this show are also smart.
@Sohokat yup=) You know what I noticed too. Niles' voice took a DEEP turn when he started to be with Daphnie. I wouldn't say his voice was high pitch or anything but his voice made a SEXY turn when he started getting with Daphne. My dad said it was because he was humbled with her.
Most people really don't understand how educational this show really is. I've learned so much watching it from different opera arias to a further extended vocabulary. This really is the "Smartest" show ever made. Pure Brilliance!
@YoursTruelyMe2 I agree with you completely. I've watched this show for years, and after taking Psychology classes, this show's dialogue helped me study and I got a lot more of the psychological references too. It truly is the "smartest" show ever made. :)
It really is an intelligent show, from the double entendres to the instant contradictions. If you like brainy television you might want to check out a popular British series from the 80's, "A Bit of Fry and Laurie." Stephen Fry's bits are especially intellectual.
@divaexpatriate Actually Donny's really sweet and great to Daphne. Sure he's kind of...very coarse, but Daphne doesn't really have a problem with that. After seeing her brothers, it's not hard to realize why.
Yes apparently the producers draw on a real psychologist (or read on the relevant sitcom audience research), and fully exploit that it is the quintessential beta-male (in this case Niles) who takes over from the lead-character (Frasier) after a while, and becomes the main attraction. The trick is to maintain his second-place between the two, but just barely, as that gives even more contrast to his charm.
The "Andy Griffith Show" must have done the same deep psychological analysis in creating the Barney Fife - Andy Taylor relationship. Likewise "The Honeymooners" with Ed Norton over Ralph Kramden.
This leads to Niles' descent AND ends with him marrying Daphne. :)

Well, he finally had something to be proud of, and a new found masculine pride!
I noticed it too, when he proposed to Daphne.
This comedy always sheers me up, and there is always a new joke in every line if you listen carefully!

I guess non-psychics would use a word like "feeling" instead of "vision".

Named after the Bob Dylan song 'Visions of Johanna' on the 1966 album 'Blonde on blonde'. Best song on the best album of the best artist ever.

Daphne says "mortician", but in Britain it's "undertaker"... she often uses American words where she shouldn't
IPutTheMeInShame 1 year ago 4
I know what you mean but I can understand it as maybe she's trying to fit in and take on the language.
It funny when she says fanny for bum though! I can't ever imagine saying that without cracking up!

I love how Daphne thinks she's psychic! Her "visions" are right on a lot of the time! :)
