Gee, just a little bit of talent assembled! Just like today's auto-tuned crap!! Used to live to see Shindig and Hullaballoo every week! McGuinn and Crosby actually handled the Good Golly Miss Molly part excellent! James Burton is playing lead on Not fade Away, as he was part of teh house band, the Shindogs!

The series house band, the Shin-diggers (later renamed the Shindogs), featured a young Glen Campbell, Joey Cooper, Chuck Blackwell (drums), Billy Preston, James Burton, Delaney Bramlett, Larry Knechtel (on bass) and pianist Leon Russell.[6]
jazzynet, I had the same experience, "TURN THAT NOISE OFF!"
Of course back then, when I was young, I thought that my parents' generation were lame as hell. Now that I'm old, I KNOW they were lame as hell! Shindig was GREAT! Every week they had a different line-up; it was always fun. Plus those dancers, man...
@KaptKan1 See? I know that you're confused. Your parents might've been the youngsters of the 1940s, that had the Swing sound, boogie woogie, lindyhop era that begat the rock'n'roll of the 50s, by the time the 60s come around it's less dynamic and, even more so the dancing, those 40s and mid50s kids could REALLY dance compared to the 60s dancers. Btw, The Byrds don't seem to be in their element doing their version of Buddy Holly. Very tepid. Weak as water.
whatis the singer out of the birds wearing those glasses hes not even looking out of them and in the midley the song is too fast for him and also thay suck at not faDE AWAY
It might be me but did people seem happyer back then, you turn on the tv now and all you see is fucking feel sorry for me pop star compalning how tough there life is yeah right,.
Great Byrds footage. Definitive mid 60's "cool"! The best news is this--McGuinn continues to perform and is better than ever mixing old Byrds hits with traditional Folk music and new material as well.
girls on trampolines works for me.

Bilk & Bob and Billy are in their element. Crosby and McGuinn were that far removed from the folkie days...........

The dancers had to be more talented then...with no throbbing disco beat to guide them.

Of course, Not Fade Away is a Buddy Holly original, and yes, the Byrds do suck at it.

Shindig was fabulous. I still can't believe that ABC took it off for Batman.

The Bryds...wow. Are they spoofing the Stones or just doing a great Buddy Holly cover.. McGuinn sounds a lot like Buddy.
Priceless! Thanks for the post
