I saw nothing of proof in this. Some of these photos had eyes with a bright reflections on them from a window or light source which basically couased the pupil to look half as wide as it should. Other eyes were looking far to a side and therefore the round pupil is not only seen as more elliptical because it is not looking at you (look at the top of your drinking glass from an angle and see an oval) or the refractive nature of the eye lens causes distortion.
