Man, Captain Scarlet was awesome. Dark, creepy, and at times graphically violent, epsecially compared to today's "Kids" shows. Forget Thunderbirds, this was the best Gerry Anderson show!

Those Mysterons are rather stupid if you ask me. They always say at the beginning of the episodes what their plans are. They're always giving it away. Wouldn't it be more realistic to keep quiet? Or are they sporting?

@ryhorn100 Basically, they're waging a psychological (as well as physical) war with the humans, they tell the humans their plans to scare them. They are toying with the humans. Kind of mean, right? I mean, they shouldn't even be fighting them, it's not like they should be mad at the humans for having their city destroyed since they could and can regenerate their city at the push of a button.

@AccountProto5X Yeah, I know. After all, it's kind of implied that extra-terrestrial beings like the Mysterons think differently to humans. In fact, I found out something on Wikipedia. It said that the Mysterons that Spectrum are against are actually computers that have evolved into their own society. The original Mysterons are said to have lived on Mars for a few centuries before abandoning the planet, leaving all the computers behind.

I always understood that it was part of their 'war of nerves'; to tell the humans what they were going to do but not when or how, so they could sit back and chuckle at Spectrum bricking it every week...

Good questions - here's a few possible answers : 1: The Mysterons do not fear earth forces and do not expect to be stopped. 2: It's a war of nerves meaning that they wish to spread fear before committing whatever act they have planned. 3: Its a great story device and allows the programme to cut to the chase. 4: Its a kid's TV programme !

Just sit back and enjoy these gems - I can't understand what no one has picked the idea up and used human actors and aimed it at a slightly older audience.
