@SharpAirsoft Not all department can afford Mobile Data Terminals. Understandably, some officers would rather take the money in the form of a bigger salary. Besides, they're not that critical, as they are mostly used to file reports in the field to save a trip to the station.

@tbsla13 acctually thats false. Computers are very useful.. Say the radio is tied up, the computer can run license plates immediately. Also, can check people for warrants. It is super fast and efficient. Also shows navigation to get to the call. Very nice.

@tbsla13 I use a MDC every day, and I'd hate to do my job without it. I don't use it for reports. I use it to run licenese plates, talk to other officers, notify dispatch when I arrive on scene. It's great.

You should have rode with the City Police or Sheriff's Office it's ALOT more fun i've got a video on my channel from where I rode with a sheriff's deputy and we stoped a 10-38 which means traffic stop well actually the guy had no seatbelt but anyway it was sorta of a dull day that day but I've done 10 with the sheriff's office and they treat me like I'm there family but I'm so ready to get graduate and be a Sheriff's Deputy then later on State patrol

i also did one, with different city but normally just go the webpage of your city if there isnt a link to a ride along form, just use the "contact" email adress and ask if/ how to do it.... thats excactly how i got to do mine. they sent me a form which i printed off, filled out, scanned it back on and emailed it to them, the next week i was doing a ride along....!!! tons of fun..!!!

What you find out once you're actually on the force is quite different from what you observe when watching COPS and other police shows on TV, or what you experience in a ride-along. If you wanna become a cop first watch the movie SERPICO. It's a true story of an officer named Frank Serpico who was the only completely honest cop in the whole city. He was eventually shot during a drug bust and left to die by his fellow officers.
