  • Really Derek !!!! Ridiculous

  • Best vid on youtube. PERIOD.

  • Oh my god the overtones at 1:00

  • oh my god 1:00

  • wow the whole 2 mins gives me goosebumps, trucks is my favorite!

  • how this video doesn't have 5 stars....God only knows.

  • the first 20 seconds of this video gives me a smile every time

  • Hauntingly delicious!!!!!!

  • Chills up and down my spine.

  • everytime. with out failure. Mr.Trucks Fills my body with goosebumps. From head to toe

  • does anybody know what song this is???

  • feel so bad

  • Are you Sure??

  • yes

  • @Feesharp9er Sure is,....they flipped the feel ,.,.!!

  • I tried to sync the audio to the video with this but apparently they are from two defferent performances...close but no cigar :D

(too bad amature videographers are persona non grata @ Trucks gigs)

  • sweet

  • goose bumps!

  • i saw him last night in boston and he was insane. best young guitarist out there no question

  • seeing him friday october 5th, in spartanburg SC. gonna be sweeeeetttt.

  • Truly incredible, he has been my favourite new guitarist in the last few years... Would love to see them live - when they come to the UK!

  • WHO WANTS A PIECE?

  • Notice the smile on the bass players face. They are having a good time.

Fuck image. It's about the music.

A truely tastful band. The keyboards are especially tasty. And those drums just "pop".

  • Phenomenal. Just back from the Iowa City Jazz Fetival. I first heard of this guy a couple weeks ago on a local blues station. I never saw Duane live, just the stuff I heard on the Fillmore concerts. But I think this guy is technically better than Duane. Phenomenal runs. And the band is also v-e-r-y tight. Gives Derek a nice playground. I especially love the keyboards. The bands grooves remind me allot of the Little Feat grooves. Well done kid.

  • You mean the guy from resevoir dogs ?? He's changed a bit !

  • "YEAH" lol.

  • The Derek Trucks Band is chill, great musicians fusing jazz, blues and rock. DTB will be in Quebec City on July 5th supported by the Elmer Ferrer Band of Havana CUBA...another jazz, blues, rock fusion band but with a latin edge. I am looking forward to seeing the DTB and EFB.

  • the guy in the middle is mike madison

  • i recognize this song

it is on the live at the georgia theater album

i think it is "feel so bad"

  • Man, that has to be awkward being the singer, just standing there.

  • does anyone know what song this is, or is it just a blues jam?

  • The dude in the middle is the best of the best. I dont care what others have said,he is the GOD. there have never been,or will be anybody who is better than the guy in the middle.

  • I agree. The dude in the middle steals the show. He rules!!

  • boring?

  • I love the dude totally chillin in the middle, he's rockin'.

  • Tämä herra osaa todellakin soittaa kitaraa! Moista slide kitaristia en ole kunaan nähnyt.

  • dear lord this guy is fucking intense!

  • chris speaks the truth... and Derek's dirty

  • amen...

  • oh man.. that's completely amazing!

  • cazzo..gia lo sa usare meglio di me lo slide

  • holy shit, that's what I call slide playing!

  • The new Clapton has arrived; I saw them together here in NZ;

  • good job but my big bro is real good!!

  • Your kidding right?

  • lol yes i was making fun of a kid that said something like that

  • I can't believe it!

  • if you watch songlines live he plays over the pickups with his slide, its fuckin the most badass thing ive ever seen any guitarist do.

  • that guy has musical capabilities. his notational resolution has the same range and agility of a blues/gospel signer. this man is a star and needs to be further publicised if he hasnt been already

  • I saw him at the latest Eric Clapton Tour, he is the only muscisian who actutally made me cry ;)

  • do you know if hes playing with clapton when he goes to sydney?

  • I saw the concert in Germany this summer!

I just checked his website, and he is still on the same tour, so yeah! Derek Trucks is part of the crew, along with another great guitarist, Doyle Bramhall II - They are 3 guitarists in all - but in Germany Robert Cray was warm-up band, but Robert Cray himself joined the conecert, so it was actually 4 guitarists! Awesome concert with 10 min solo's :p

  • my god. thats good news cya later mate thanks alot

  • No problem man! I hope you will have a good time ;) - I certainly had!

  • best night of my life, thank god for duane allman and his nephew...if it were not for him i would have never seen true beauty

  • That's Butch Trucks nephew. (The drummer) not Duanne Allman's..

  • really?? i swear i heard him called Duanne's nephew?

  • wat tuning is he in?

  • There's no way to deny his talent; just listen to his amazing, rich guitar tone. I've never heard anything like it, especially not from someone so young.

  • GREAT !! I love it !

  • Bireli Lagrene is pretty amazing and has the capacity for very soulful playing. But who cares? Derek Trucks is allowed to be amazing too.

  • This Bireli, he's quite the Jazz musician. But he is nothing compared to what Derek Trucks is. Derek Trucks has the uncanny ability to channel his feelings through every note he puts into his guitar. When Derek plays fast, he doesn't just play some quick scales a few times and call it a song, he wrenches every ounce of soul out of his body and creates a masterpiece, I would really love to see Bireli do that. Maybe then I would enjoy his music more.

  • Derek is quite the slide player. Agreed, probably the best ever. But while I enjoy his regular guitar playing, there is no comparison to the phenom known as Bireli. Bireli is Reinhardt, Benson, McLaughlin, and Hendrix in the same body. Sometimes I wish I never knew he existed.

  • Derek is a Buddah! Check out Jason Ricci and New Blood for some great jams too! and of G'mule

  • derek is the bomb. i prefer bonamassa. but they both rock their balls off

  • This is a 1:57 clip you fucking LIAR! Jking, great clip, Derek is awesome.

  • It's not about him not being the fastest. He's a wonderful musician and MAN he understands his instrument; but he's not the BEST. Although today, nowadays, I don't think there's much competition. Who else is there? 'John Petrucci' or some shit.

  • well there are guys like jimmy herring, warren haynes, to a lesser extent henry garza, carlos santana, robben ford people like that. was petrucci a serious thought or were you kidding

  • Next time you think of crap like that, substitute the persons name with food. I.E " burgers are better that tacos" and maybe you'll see how ignorant you sound.Enjoy derek's music and know that he'd think that saying shit like "he's the best" is moronic. Do you think that he thinks of music as a competition? Leave that shit to sports.

  • Im amazed at the ignorance displayed by most of my guitar amigos. " Put any guitar player in front of him and he'd turn their ass to sand" Well, I propose putting Pat metheny in front of him. Get my point?

  • lol if i was the singer id sit off stage somewhere:P

  • Great slide playing. Amazing tone out of an SG and a super.

  • lol the singer isnt trying to do much but stand around looking like a freaking idiot otherwise derek trucks kicks ass!

  • The singer i guess doesnt have to worry about it because everyone is looking at Derek!

  • sure if you say so.

  • Derek sold his soul

  • ...at least he has more than something to sell...

  • what song is this?

  • saw him with eric at the royal albert hall back in may and spent the entire show watching him not clapton! clapton has obviously realised his talent and very generously gave him a lot of his solos to play and listening to trucks play tunes written a long time before he was born was awesome...it's been a while since anyone like this came along. clapton the genuis and trucks the young pretender. rock on!

  • i saw him last week with eric clapton. he was freakin incredible. with clapton being quite good himself it was simply magic.

  • I've seeen The Derek Trucks Band 5 times and it is always the most mind blowing show ever. He sends chills up my spine every time.

  • this kid is great. One of the most promising guitarists of our time. His tone is an absolute killer.

  • the best out today

    bar none

  • The "best" at what??? Slide guitar? I'll agree that he's up there. with just about anyone, though for my taste Sonny Landreth might be even better. Straight guitar playing? Give me a break.

  • noklor666 descends from the heavens (or not based on his name) to save us from ourselves...had never heard of trucks, followed a link to him...amazing slide work. I like the slide tone he's getting

  • Hey, whats the best color of the rainbow? It's music. It is expression. There is no best. Be thankful that there a many talented players for all of us to enjoy. Hey whats the best book? Whats the best peice of artwork? Whats the best flower? Shallow way of looking at things.

  • yeah derek trucks, off the hook.. i never liked his band very much, but his playing is unreal

  • watch him on tour with clapton playing claptons music. youll prolly enjoy that more than his band's music.

  • he is great, maybe the best, its your choice.

  • thanks for posting this! I'm getting his new CD...can't wait to see him live.

  • thats because he is a god. Derek is jesus, duane allman and john coltrane reincarnated into one person. its true, derek is the jesus of guitar. when he plays he surpases even being a guitar player and his guitar becomes just a tool for creaming you in the face with soul. he will give yyou a soulgasm

  • Derek Trucks is amazing.

I have seen him twice with the Allman Brothers, and once with The Derek Trucks Band.

    Never fails to impress...

  • I cried the first time I saw the derek trucks band live.

  • i think warren haynes is better personally, he sounds more like duane, derek has a totally different style and sound then duane and i think sounds nothing like him.

  • I would have to disagree with you on that cb18201. Derek makes Warren sound kind of inept on slide/guitar. I think that if Duane could hear Derek play he'd say something like, "Yes, the student has become the master." - and then they'd bust out some hilatious jams.

  • Derek does have a style all of his own and Warren does sound more like Duane. Derek is definitely better than both of them though. He is without doubt the greatest slide player of all time! Attention everybody, he should also never be compared to Bireli!

  • Check out Joe Bonamassa's slide. Not sure your style but hes a pretty nasty slide player.

  • Derek Trucks owns it! PURE TASTE/SOUL! Strikestwice, place another guitar player in front of him and he would turn his/her ass into sand. Yeah, there is probably some shit metal/speed player who can out shred him, but wheres the taste in that.

  • http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-1559910527486664363&q=bireli+lagrene&hl=en Right. Bireli would make Derek look like a beginner in a micro second.

  • apples to oranges, dude!

  • Dude, why don't you go compare Bireli to Django or something? You're talking about two completely different genres of music...

  • When people say someone is the "best", that means they're better than everyone! Bireli fits that description. He can play bebop, gypsy swing, and yes, fusion and rock. Derek is a very fine player, but people on this board make him out to be god!

  • strikestwice, Bireli is also a magnificent player. But his expertise is speed/technical virtuosity, not the tasteful, blues/jazz/funk/soul, chill-bump arousing style that is Derek Trucks' alone. Bireli should be called Dr. Arpeggio - all of his improvisation is based on fast, numbing, arpeggios. I think B.B. King could express just as much with 2 notes as Bireli could in one of his technical flights of fancy.

  • Bireli's playing encompasses a lot more than just "fast arpeggio's". As for BB King, I love the guy, but he wouldn't know where to start on a tune like "Dinello", and neither would Derek for that matter. And if you want to talk about ripping your guts out with a few notes, Jeff Beck is still god.

  • That's quite an exciting band to watch.

    But seriously, he's amazing.

  • yeah hes pretty good ... very good- i just hate how you have to be a fan of the genre to appreciate the guitar player ...

  • i am not a fan of it but i can appreciate the genius he is

  • nathxt you say you cant see why hes the best. Close your eyes and open your ears .................... and hear why hes the best

  • Derek is certainly a very fine player, but to call him "the best" is silly. The "best" at what? He certainly is one of the top slide players of all time, but while he's certainly no slouch as a "regular" guitar player, he's not on the same planet with Chris Cain, Larry Carlton, Robben Ford Jimmy Bruno, and Bireli Lagrene.

  • Ya ... his from another planet ... that's for sure:)

  • he would leave them all in the dust

  • the best guitarist in the world is an opinion. nobody will eva b the alltime greatest in evry1s view. ive gt this months guitarist and he does make the guitar sound so sweet. Just because he is not the fastest doesnt make him in anyway inferior

  • this guy can play fast , slow , and none of its standard tuning, he plays straight guitar like that too, you need too see this guy play up front and live he is a true genius..and he is probably one of the genre best guitar players the world has ever seen

  • yeah right - jack black is the best in the world - he wrote the one note song

  • i cant see what the big fuss about.. hes not bad like but on the front cover of this months Guitarist it says hes the best in the world..

    BULLSHIT.

  • i concur

  • Hey man take it easy, he is an excellent guitarist, and if you ever saw him live with the Allman bros. you'd be blown away, him and Warren Haynes JAM and I mean JAM.

  • I saw Derek w/Eric Clapton in Atlanta(10/06), it was THE MOST AMAZING show of guitar talent I have EVER SEEN!! I've seen hundreds of shows over the years(I used to be a board engineer for live shows), he is THE best slide player on the planet, baby!

  • He was incredible at that show...I was there. Pretty amazing solo he threw in where he was off the fretboard and going crazy...he was UNBELIEVABLE.

  • derek trucks is brilliant!

  • Wow He sounds great! I can't to hear him with clapton in jacksonville!

  • Hey, look what I found! For the record, I took this clip with my Canon PowerShot SD10 Digital ELPH on 1/9/05 @ Florence Gould Hall (in NYC). And yes, it is the last two minutes of "Feel So Bad", which ended the first set.

  • What's the name of the song, and who's the band?

  • The song is 'Feel So Bad', and the band is the Derek Trucks Band.

  • saw him with Clapton in Glasgow on Monday, brill!

  • can u not tell how the vidio is ahead of the music.

  • why does derek trucks still look like hes 15 years old lmfao

  • Awesome!!!this isn't from Gateway( no.ton.) is it??? if so I was almost right next to you!!!!! did you see Dicky Betts the yr. before

    saweeet footage bro!ttyl-
