If you're going to get a cam like this, I would advise investing in a ( very ) cheap camera that takes mini dv and has a firewire port, it will save you money in the long run.

I bought a second hand VX 1000for 1000 pounds in 1998 ,I went to New Zealand this February and it stopped working ,ejecting the tape and a noisy picture,I thought it was the humidity.The BBC tv centre workshop wanted 85 pounds to just look at it.Later I tried to record colour bars.Switch to LOCK, turn on to camera mode,hold down still picture button and at the same time press red record button and turn switch to standby.The camera now records colour bars.Press the red button to stop.
