  • I had this on 2600 as a kid. Fun game but really under-rated. One of those hidden gems. And I love the blues riff that's used for the music.

  • @neojake999gamer

Indeed a wonderful hidden game and really underrated game. That tune is indeed very catchy :).

  • @stealthmummy

Yes your are right. The surely can make good arcade games :) This is a goog game in my opinion.

  • "What are the requirements?" I have low power PC heheheh :))) Serious-i downloaded but can not start-game speed with pics and crash. Any right download suggestion?

  • This was the "fun" game the teacher would let us play if we were ood in computer lab but id still rather play Oregon Trail.

  • @chriscancer13

Thanks for your comment. You had a good teacher :).

  • What the heck, did I really see MSX V1.0 copyright by Microsoft?

  • @LowBudgetJeff

    You saw that correctly :)

  • I used to play this on apple IIc, it was one of my favorites ^^

  • @Xerceth

    Mines too :)

  • ahh paralax scrolling

  • Yes, isn't it nice :) The good old days when programmers could achieve great effects with very simple means.

  • I had this game on my Atari. LOOOOVED Moon patrol!!

  • Geat Video!

I've never seen an actual MSX but I have played with the emulator. MSX did get the best version of Moon Patrol. It even has some extra touches that one upped the original arcade game and the attract screen is just awesome! C64 was at the bottom, even the 2600 had far better game play.

MP was one of my favorites as a kid. I owned the arcade game for several years but ended up selling it and sort of regret it now. It is a bit easy to master and after that it tends to lose its appeal.

  • Thanks for your reaction. Having seen many other versions of Moon Patrol here on YouTube it is my opinion that the MSX got the best version of them. I like the moonscape in the background and the sounds.

MSX got several other releases of Moon Patrol as well but this is by far the best of them.

Years later IREM produced their much more famous R-Type.

I know how you feel, I regret sometimes having sold my original MSX2 computer and the few original games I had.

  • i was a c64 gamer, but gotta say this version looks and sounds much better.

  • Thanks Bazfanv2,

This game is one of my favorites. I think it is better then a lot of other versions out there.

  • classic

  • Yes indeed a great classic.

  • good

  • Thanks Pumoo. This is one of my favorite games.

  • Haha, indeed my friend. I am a retro-gamer. I play games that appeared on the MSX-system, the computer of my youth. I like this game very much. Thanks for the points.

  • oh wow, now THAT is oldschool gaming!
