neat pic's but this place is said not to be safe for another 100 years its incredably stupid to even go near this place. So sad that countries have not learnt from the past events. In alberta, canada the goverment is thinking of puting up three nuclear power plants to keep up with the use of power. The day this happends canada will be unsafe (in my opinon. Nothing is 100% perfect.)
@maxwellmaxamillian every time i get on xbox live i always see half of japan dark. so i think we have another Chernobyl. kinda funny but at the same time its also a reminder of karma
levels of radiation on guided tours are relatively small; radiation levels in most places are less than those of being in an aircraft flying at 30,000 feet. The main danger is not in the radiation itself, but in particles of radioactive materials that may remain on your clothes or items.A lethal dose of radiation is in the range of 300 to 500 roentgens when administered within an hour.
Levels on the tour reportedly range from 15 to several hundred microroentgens an hour. A microroentgen is one-millionth of a roentgen. Example: On a six-hour trip arranged in October 2008 the total dose was 4 microsieverts according to the meter (400 microroentgens). This was less than the total dose of the connecting two-hour flight, which was 6 microsieverts (600 microroentgens).
Radiation levels by the power plant were 1.7 microsieverts per hour (170 microroentgens per hour) and they varied between 0.4 and 9.5 microsieverts per hour(40-950 microroentgens per hour) in the Pripyat amusement park. Thus, risks are pretty much non-existent as long as you don't get yourself contaminated.
You don't actually need suits at all (Hazard suits). The thing is, however, that there are a few "hot particles" floating around, and a lot of toxic dust is still on the ground in buildings. A dust mask will do fine and protect you well enough.
Also, vegetation such as grass or moss act as a sponge of radiation. So it's best be near buildings or on concrete.
@MicrowavableJo technically, you're wrong, we all are exposed to doses of radiation every day from the time we were conceived, but i know what you're talking about :)

@hyper2monkey2boy uh radiation wont kill you unless you like live there for a week or unless its like heat radiation i think
nascar51523fan 1 year ago
@nascar51523fan
Depending on the strength of radiation, and which type.
It varies from a few minutes to a few weeks, depending on who you are and where. In the long therm, you can develop cancer because of radiation.

People would end up dying 15-30 years after they are exposed to radiation.
I doubt they would of stayed in that shelter for that long.
