How does it work?

Do you have to blow or does the vibration just reverberate through your mouth or what?

i think u use ur mouth as an echo hole and the blades r just to allow the air to vibrate and u use ur mouth also to control the pitch of the sound im just asuming if im wrong just correct me

no you've pretty much got it, though some jaw harps are held with the teeth or lips and a reed struck with the fingers/palm such as in the other videos this guy has.
