    Not everyone can do this job. I do this job and trust me not everyone has the brainpower to do it. Yes its an easy job, but can be very dangerous at the same time.

  • Never walk backwards when bringing in airplanes like this marshaller is doing. 1 tells the captain to speed up and 2 U can get hit by airport vehicles.

  • acually flightfollowing front chalks can be put in you jsut have to wait the 30 second spool down for rear chalks.

  • Those engines need to be turning off before you put the chocks in. And yeah.. Marshaller don't look like he's enjoying the job.

  • yea we have those "self-guide systems" at Terminal 1... they dont have them @ T3 yet??

  • actually we do, but a lot of smaller planes like the 737 park out in the hardstand, so we still need to park them manually

  • a lot, they serve more than half the international airlines at jfk, ie klm, emirates, air india, air jamaica, kuwait plus many more, there are days when its real hectic, but each airport is different

  • Yeah.. when I worked ramp in MSP, I did everything from marshaling to loading and unloading baggage and even draining the LAVS on occasion.. you pretty much do it all..

  • i;m sorry, i work for swissport, but that was poorly done, i get a great sense of pride when marshalling an aircraft

  • Swissport will only be around until Westjet uses their own Ground Handlers (TAC) which are way better than crappy Swiss Port. They turn planes way faster then SP could even think of :)

  • Now a days some airport gates do not need a marshaller. Because they have the nose in guidance and the Safegate systems will guide the aircraft safely towards the passenger airbridge or jetway.

  • 90% of the gates at pearson have the safedock system... westjet doesnt want to use it in yyz for some reason

  • WestJet in April 2006 announced that Swissport will assume its ground handling contract for the airline at Toronto Pearson International Airport effective immediately. Swissport will be responsible for all aircraft loading and baggage handling at WestJet's second largest operation with approximately 290 scheduled departures per week.
