  • I have always wondered why a Starfury is shooting at another at the beginning

  • The theme that starts at 0:46, I call it the "Theme of Sacrifice", and I think it's one of the best themes written by Christopher Franke.

You can first hear the theme during the season 1 episode, "And the Sky Full of Stars", where Commander Sinclair has a flashback of the Battle of the Line, where thousands of human Earthforce members were killed while desperately trying to defend earth from the Minbari onlsaught.

  • The second time that you could hear the "Theme of Sacrifice" was in the season 1 finale called, "Chrysalis".

You can hear it when Earthforce One is destroyed and President Luis Santiago is assassinated.

The theme fits season 3 perfectly as an opening, because of the looming war against the shadows getting closer and closer and not to mention the conflict between Captain Sheridan and Earthforce under the control by President Morgan Clark.

  • My favourite intro

B5 died young but its still great unlike the later star treks which were rubbish

  • dun dun DAH dun dun DAH dun dun DAH dadadadada deded dun dun DAH

  • I recently bought both Season's 2 and 3 as boxed sets, re-watching all these episodes I had almost forgotten how much I enjoyed this series.

  • it failed

  • its one of the best scifi in history. i miss it!

  • To this day, I believe this was, and is, and likely will be for a DAMN long time, the greatest sci-fi opening sequence & music ever put together.

When the full 'might' of the piece kicks in just as the pan over/under/around the station starts, it gives me shivers.

  • I totally agree, this piece just sends shivers down my spine. Christopher Franke has done some amazing stuff and i have a few of his CDs(mainly B5 ones :) I'd say pretty much all of the pieces composed for B5 were spot on and i couldn't now imagine anyone else of having dones the scores for this series. Love it!

  • what of season 5 that one too

  • The music was by Christopher Franke, (Tangerine Dream) he released a Babylon 5 CD on the Sonic Music label

  • How can I get my hands on the music for the opening credits and closing credits of season 3 of Babylon 5?

    Barry

  • I would be 269 yrs old by then, It makes me feel good about myself. I love babylon 5.

  • if you already have a subscription to Blockbuster, or netflix, or any other online rental place, they should have them

  • Show some respect for the show, WB and JMS. Pay for B5 like everybody does. 'Seeing it for free' is stealing.

  • YES! While I like all seasons of B5, the 3rd is my favorite! Especially the opener! The music is the best, very dark! I remember watching when season 3 was first aired, I could hardly wait for each new episode. Especially when they got near the end and started flashing "Z-15" "Z-10" or what ever it was every once in a while, all leading up to the season finally which, I think is one of the most powerful hours of telivision ever shown! What an incredible climax to a beautiful 3 year arc!!!!!!

  • i enjoyed all the season openings 3 and 4 being the best in my opinion

  • amazing music score, deep and haunting...

  • Cut it by yourself from video file)

  • I was wondering if anyone knew where could download the dialogue that G'Kar delivers at the end of season 3

  • Awesome cut )) Making me re-watching more and more)

  • Awesone Opening. My favourite, too.

  • My favourite season opener for Babylon 5. Really heroic and foreboding. Makes you want to march for war against the Shadows.
