I worry about the mental health of our troops as they are stressed more and more each day.The Viet Nam soldiers had a very bad time of it and it created alot of problems for them.I imagine the state of mind that they will return with will not be good. this may be too little too late to help them.
This is not such a bad idea. Maybe more republicans who support the clown prince Bush and his inept occupation of Iraq would be willing to send their kids to Iraq or go themselves if our current soldiers and their families didn't have to shoulder the entire effort. Personally, I favor a draft whenever we're at war.

Well if that is all it says then when they surve what 10 years, 20 years they get that time at home? If it is truely as simple as he says there really is no cap to time spent at war. Ummmm-don't want to sling around the 'stupid" word here, however most folks understand Webb is talking about length of deployment in combat, and not time in the military. One year of continuous combat equals one year of time safely at home. Most modern militaries have a 3 or 4 to one ration for instance, as did the US prior to Iraq.
I am fully aware, I was making a dramatisation of the time with the current events of the simingly exspanvie time needed to be spent to get your full promised compensation. My point is that his "simple" plan needs to be laid out in more detail if he wants public suport. Exspecialy if he is changing the present legislation. If he is just adding to the present legislation that maybe diffrent.
I suppose you could always befuddle it with detail and techspeak - however it wouldn't change the underlying proposal for bringing the ratio closer into line with what was the status quo prior to Iraq, and with other major modern militaries. The reason it appears simple and straight forward, is that it is in fact pretty simple.
