I think the lombax is Ratchet. But Ratchet will think it is his father.

I wonder if we'll revisit events that happen in previous R&C games, like the robot factory where clank was mysteriously made. Where we finally find out that it was Ratchet of the future that pressed the red button to create clank. And Dr Nefarious is trying to stop Ratchet from doing it. Therefore the events in R&C 3 never happened and Nefarious' plan was never foiled.

Time travel opens many possibilities.

Clank isn't made randomly. In the first cutscene of the first game a red button is pressed and the factory malfunctions.

The red button is in the first cutscene of the first game.

Someone pushes the button and clank is created.

And yeah it does say it in the manual as well.
