For me life happened 11 years ago, a car wreck changed my life forever. I broke every bone in my body with the exception of my neck, chest and back. But everything else got broke. That wreck left my physically and mentally broke. I had to be placed in a rest home and for 2 years I was their youngest residence, I made it up in my mind that I wouldn't let it beat me and it didn't. I am walking again, talking again, no side affects except alot of scars and about to graduate college at 41 yrs old.
It's been 6 years since I graduated High School. I'm not a grad student in Marine Biology like I always dreamed but you know what?? I'm enjoying the life I have too much to care.
i was wanting to know if i could get you to post her song i cry please that would mean alot to me i love that song and i want to hear it havent heard it in a while
This song popped in my head just tonight after seeing a friend from high school. I got to thinking about how different our lives turned out after high school, how some of us aimed for the stars and made it. How some of us (such as the person I ran into tonight) Lady Fate hasn't been so kind to and are just hanging on. Sad, oh yes, but the way we deal with the hardballs life throws us can be a wonderfully fascinating thing in itself. I can only hope that my fellow classmates have the best of luck
Lots of comments about lives, memories and lost and found loves. We each have our on goals and we each made choices, right or wrong. That is" Life Happened". I was one of the lucky ones that found the partner I wanted and someone that wanted me. 53 years later a lot of "Life Happened" we are still carrying on. I thank God for that. Hope all are as lucky.
I never liked this song b/c I feel like it says that it's OK to give up your dreams when "life happens." I always hated this b/c if it's true love you'll work hard together in the SAME direction. Don't tell me it's unrealistic. I met my true love at age 18. Today at age 24 I couldn't' be more in love, we're engaged, both in law school, and getting married in two years. THEN we'll have our dreams and a beautiful family too. What's wrong with that? It's called true love and determination. <3
@legalglitz For clarification, I'm not passing judgement on anyone. This has always been MY perspective.
Simple rules: know what you're looking for in a guy/girl - be selective, when you find him/her be smart about "things" until you're ready to have a child, & take on the world together w/h your partner's best interest at heart. People change as they mature, of course, but you should never give up your lifelong dreams for "love" and if he/she wants you to then it's probably not "love."
@legalglitz I agree with you so much. Find someone you have things in common with. I spent most of my life around people I didn't have a thing in common with and found out they weren't really friends to begin with. Married a girl I didn't love back in 1985. Been single since 1987. Kinda starting life all over again at age 47.
Gonna have fun with what years I have left. Good post Jeg !!!!!
My best friend is the guy in the white shirt and black tie. He dreamed of being an actor but life happened and he's a great bartender in Nashville and my wonderful roommate.
I love this song! Most of us had big dreams as kids. What did Lennon say? Life is what happens while making other plans. I am 40 now a long way out of high school. Those dreams I had then were just replaced. Instead of going on digs in Egypt I am a mom and a wife. Most of the people I still know from high school are not in the place they thought they would be. Yet we are still happy.
This song is about how growing up and facing real life will turn one dream into another. I wanted to be a singer, but now I'm a mother and more happy with that.
Great song, and yet soooooo true.....how many of you had ambitions of being a doctor, lawyer, etc. once you left high school but ended up being something different because something got in the way of life....a significant other, or kids? I've seen it happen one too many times.
Also if anyone likes this song, there's another song by The Statler Brothers called "The Class Of 57" that is similar to this song. I recommend giving it a listen!
wow..I've just discovered Tammy at VEOH..and her so is very very country..and I hope this kind of songs will last..coz that is what country song is...
this is so true i ve had so many things happen i was supposed to run away with my best friend but he died 3 days before christmas and i gave up that dream and settled for helping his family and my own and i realized life happened but i turned out all right and even though hes gone i still feel like if this tradgedy hadnt happened then i would have run away and i would have dropped out of school so i wont bitch about i caus e life happened and i now have a better aprecaition for the big picture
When I was seventeen, graduating from high school, I thought I was going to change the world, set it on fire. Then things happened, I became ill, and I never got to realize the dreams I dreamed as a kid. Life happens and sometimes it kicks you in the teeth. But I don't feel sorry for the kids who didn't get out because they decided to settle down and breed. They could have left this hick town, gotten out, but they preferred to marry and that's fine, but don't fucking whine about it.
I wanted out, I wanted out so badly, but I got sick, had multiple surgeries, and now I'm not physically able to live by myself. I would have given anything to be able to leave my hometown. I hate it, and always did. So I don't feel sorry for the church kids who do the obligatory "family thing" just because that's what they've been taught. They shouldn't feel sorry for themselves being stuck in bumfuck USA. That was their choice, and they should be happy about it.
i agree with jonesman8. at first it seems like a sad song....but then one realizes its about how even tho its maybe not the glitz and glamour we dreamed of on graduation day (08 for me!) but it still turns out alright =]
I've only been out of Highschool for..god, 4, 5 years now? And still, I've seen half the things I was sure I wanted to do, and things I'd never thought I would want, change. You know what though? I'm happy. So I'm not a big star, or making millions, I'm happy and I've got a whole life ahead of me. Love this song.
Man0man I tell ya my 30th birthday is approaching in just a few weeks and looking back all the things that seemed so important so long ago are so meaningless now. you really learn to put things into perspective. Live each day like it may be your last because it will come too soon. I have lost so many friends from high school in this decade plus since I closed that chapter in my life. Live with no regrets and live like you have nothing to lose. Ask God everynight to forgive you for everything.
So many comments are about living life to the fullest in high school and missing that chapter of life. But this song isn't about high school being the highlight of life nor lost dreams. Its about ordinary lives being so wonderful...instead of being an actress being happy with being a mother and directing kids to act. It doesn't seem to me as a sad song, but a realization that we all turned out just fine despite falling short of dreams.
@jonesma8 I do not think the key to life is getting everything we want or even acheiving all of our dreams. You need to find that one thing that makes you feel content. That one thing you can come home to that can make you happy even in your darkest times. I think we all get clouded so much by the greed in this world that we forget what simple happiness can give us.
this was one of the song that introduced me to country in nigeria...still moves me as it did many years ago.....a compelling story well told in song....great song for short
I can't speak for everyone else on this song but I will say this & I think we can all agree on. Everyone & anyone can relate to this song one way or another.
she's still great ! I played in a country band for 11 years, shared the stage with tammy a ton of times, she is very down to earth, fun loving, and passionate,btw....back in the day she never touched anything stronger than diet coke.....lol,
Thanks for posting this vid, I LOVE Tammy's music, and this is an amazing video of hers, too bad she isn't more popular! Only gripe I have, and it's not much, is the volume is WAY too low on this one, but keep up the great work!
I'VE BEEN LOOKING FOR THIS VIDEO FOR YEARS!!! Oh my gosh, sorry for the caps but it's taken me soooo long to find this video. I've seen it once, and never again. You're amazing. Thank you!
Picking up the pieces and going on from there, where ever there may be, is crucial for all of us. We all had dreams of what we thought would be the perfect life, all of us individually.Somewhere along the way we got distracted, I believe that these distractions are put in our paths to show us and teach us what is truly important. It's not the clothes that we wear, the cars we drive, hair or makeup. It's growing into the best person that you can become. Learning what is truly important. (Love)
Wow I was so deppressed today thinking of my wanting a singing career. Im 32 mom and wife. And your comment made me feel someting inside besides....what if?
No matter what color-race-or religion you may be to "Life Happened" boils down all the BS of this world and reminds us that we actually belong to one race on this planet...the human race.
Thanks a million for adding this song. I have been thinking of it as life does happen. Some for the good, some not. I guess when we where young we all had the dreams, mine eneded in Iraq and I am now that guy in the wheel chair. But what I mean to say here is Life Happened.
I respect the sacrifice you have made for me and I thank you. My son is over there right now. life does happen and it will be a good life with the blessings you have been givin from God. I will pray for that you have a wonderful and fruitful life. My you be happy and safe and never forgotten for the gift you have given our country.
