Yes, it's absolutely true and easily demonstrated.
If you have a little time, I’d strongly recommend watching one of the most brilliant scientists in the world talking about the mystery of the Universe. It’s Lawrence Krauss. Even if you only understand a bit - like me - it will blow your mind.
The big bang is the rapid expansion and stretching of the fabric of the universe, just as stated in isaiah 42:5. "The lord, who created the heavens and stretched them out"
Even if it took G-d 6 days to complete the universe, God should of been able to finish creating everything in much less time than 6 days imho! - I mean, he's 'G-d' for god's sake (no pun intended)!!
on the fourth day, the universe was created, so it is clear what is meant. day and night here on earth. the universe is in the mids of the earth, and was created after the earth was formed.
that´s a kind of a gap theory. gerry shroeder makes a gap between the understanding of god and human. but the bible was written for humans, so we should trust in it. a day is the periode between morning and morning. if the sun revolved slower around the earth during the first 6 days, the periodes could took longer. The first day began with the seperation from light and darkness on earth(genesis 1:4/5). if there is no periode of day and night, you can´t call it day.
Well, that would depend, according to his hypothesis, where in space time it is. I think that time is Relative, but I want to know where this guys gets his numbers from. And then there is the messy thing that there is no center of the universe as space time are expanding. From any point in the universe it looks as though it is in the center as the universe is expanding outward from all directions.
talk about a desperate attempt to justify his faith =/ It's too bad people are spending so much time trying to justify their faith rather than making actual scientific progress.
I love how religious perspectives went from persecuting and killing non-believers, to these weirdo ideas that try to reconcile the bible with science and basically say, "this is what we meant all along".
The perspective of seeing earth from billions of light years away is irrelevant. The rock, the material here has been present for an elapsed period of around 4.5 billion years.
Paslm 90:10: "The length of our days is seventy years, if we have the strength; yet their span is but trouble and sorrow, for they quickly pass, and we fly away."
There's no reason to believe the days of creation were literal 24 hour days. Day, in biblical meaning, is referred to many instances of time.
The fact that the universe is not 15 billions years old, but 13.7 billion, and that nothing is farther away than 13.7 billion years, proves its old age, with no wild hypothesis required.
Well, I have read some peer reviewed articles that chow the universe could be 15.8 billion years old, with some new techniques. But, I really do wonder where this guy pulled some of his numbers from. Also, if you use his trillion stretching factor at any other point in the universe then our particular point then it doesn't work, also the universe does not have a starting point or center as the Big Bang is an expansion of space time.
Exactly. Everything in the universe is at the center, since everything is the product of the Big bang itself. General consensus in the scientific community has coined the universe at 13.7 billion years old, but it was once 20 billion, 15 billion, and is subject to revision as normal when new evidence is given.
But, since is was an expansion of space time there is not theoretical center. It is a little difficult to explain as there was no starting point. I know the revisions, that is why science continues to grow.
I wish I could see the whole show, because if it presented this theory as legitimate, the History Channel should be ashamed of themselves.
Even if modern estimates of the age of the universe are high because of the stretching of space (which certainly is a new idea which needs much more investigation) it could not account for the time between the earth's formation and the appearance of man...
The methods used to estimate this length of time (e.g., radiometric dating) would not be affected by the stretching of space. Even if the earth was created in a manner of days, the story of genesis is still invalidated by the 4 plus billion years between the formation of the earth and humanity.
It still leaves a lot of info blowing in the wind. I think that it really answers nothing. If we want to go to those who knew the most about the universe before modern times, that would be the Mayans. So, you want to go for historical accuracy well then maybe we should follow the Mayan teachings.
I think that his hypothesis leaves a lot of unanswered questions and creates many more.
Well, I think people look for anything or make anything to support their beliefs. Such as Einstein, who thought that the universe was static, fudged his numbers so it would show what he believed. Does that make it bad, yes and no?
Well, I did some research before I did the video, the guy graduated from MIT with his PhD. So, I don't question that, but his pulling numbers out of thin air is intellectually dishonest.

That is the thing. His hypothesis does not hold up if there are different perspectives within the universe.

The whole thing is just a joke.
He even tried explicitly to make up the number 6 days from 15 billions years by simple division.
He's retarded, perhaps have been a christian for too long.

Well, he is a Jew, but close enough. Either way he is looking for something that doesn't quite make sense.
It is a nice try at grasping at straws.

I would still really like to know where in the hell he pulled 1 trillion from. I still don't get it.

"and divided it by the stretching factor".
The stretching factor...
