Watching these matches that I grew up with, along with all of the other classics from NWA, MSG classic matches from the 70s and 80s (WWF), and up until the end of the Invasion area. Ever since Wrestlemania 20, I drifted apart from the WWE. But watching this stuff never ever gets old for me.

There is still hype and emotion from these kinds of matches.

Should have been the Fink bringing in Yokozuna and Bret. The Fink is the greatest ring announcer of all time. The new crew don't hold a candle, he's better than Michael Buffer. There is something about the emphasis he puts on a title change that makes him better than anybody else.

Not so much, but he explains how happy and proud he was to drop the title to a deserving and hard-working old pro like Backlund, but I think he most liked their first match together back in the summer, when Bob first "snapped." Hart also admits to the "shoot" hold, the crossface chickenwing, being as painful as it looks! My advice - read Hart's book for all kinds of insights on lots of talent and politics in wrestling; some good, & some not-so-good, but overall, it's well worth reading it.

God, this was exactly one year belated. This should have been the main event finish for wrestlemania 8. Funny story, Luger was supposed to beat Yoko and job to Bret in the main event . But he got drunk and blabbed the finish at the bar, it was in the morning paper. So he cost himself a title run (albeit a two hour one )

And Vince has another problem he doesn't like superstars in WWE Hof who are legends, but never or rarely wrestled for the WWE. But rest assured there are indepent Hall of Fames of Pro-wrestling out there who are more credible.

Probably the only person who could generate the kind of pop that a Piper entrance does nowadays would be the Hitman himself.

When the drum roll kicks on for Piper's entrance, entire arenas literally wet themselves. The only thing close to it I've seen was when Shawn Michaels pranked the Montreal crowd into thinking Bret was making an entrance to take him down. Say what you want about the ethics behind The Screwjob, that was simply an amazing in-ring promo.
