Thanx a lot, i have been lookig for a tutorial like this for a while. Would like to start airbrushing but there still o lot of questions, like whitch hardware would be the beste for me. What a compresor is the right one and so on.... The market offers lots of harware but there is also lot of creappy stuff out there that costs a lot and does not have the requiremens for a good quality tool. Im loooking for a set or hardware to airbrusch models and motorbike fuel tanks. Any suggesiton ??
I'm looking to pull interior panels from my car and airbrush them with automotive paint. Seems pretty straightforward I guess. Does anybody have any suggestions for an inexpensive but still decent airbrush or anything else a beginner would need to know? I'm not looking to do designs or anything fancy like that.
i have the same small air compressor u got .. iam just starting.. got a f1.daul action gravity feed..payed 124$ and got a 50 $ one to.. do i need high air pressure to get the paint to come out ? i got house of color paint..when i put it in the airbrush it clogged up then i started useing model paint .lol.. so what do i need to do to make the paint come out better.. and get fine lines.. iam practiceing .. as mush as i can..
@hockeyfreak043 You have to do a little research on google, before jumpin' right in, but you will need to thin the paints that your using, depending on what kind of paint it is, but any paint you use has to be thinned out. Here's a good source for learning a little bit about it.. youtube(DOT)com/watch?v=LQJnrmmvGfo
i will have one of those to my christmas present that i will get from my dad :) so im jsut watching videos to prepeare my self for getting one. and thanks this helped a lot :)
How difficult is it to start airbrushing? Now I did watch the video so I know what you think, but I'm talking about how long until you're comfortable enough with the tools to create a "presentable" piece of work, since it does require a bit more knowledge and whatnot with the combining of airflow and paint. I'm thinking about teaching myself so I can paint my instruments ^_^
And money wise, how much? I think all we got is an air compressor so yeah . . .
@bluestribute It is rather expensive. My airbrush was $118 and my compressor is about $150. I used 40% off coupons and cut my price in half. The airbrsuh paints are about $4.00 each (I am 13 and saving up for more airbrush paints). I am still getting used to my airbrush but I find it is very easy to get used to after a couple tests (like on scrap paper). Hope this helps!
@BoomerMyBaby Thanks! That's not terribly pricey when compared to other things I've built so that's good (Duckitar on my channel cost about $600.00). How long do the paints last you usually? I guess if they last a decent amount of time, this might be something to start getting into, and sense you're still getting used to it, they probably last a bit shorter than usually (just with practicing and all).
@bluestribute Well, it depends on the size.I know they come in 2oz (lasts very short, well certaain airbrushs gulp up paints) 4 oz, and 8oz. The pricing is for average 4oz bottles. How long they last depends on how big you paint. I would reccomend getting used to airbrush by mixing like craftsmart paint (about 59 cents at michaels) with water. Then start with the paints and use them as a back-up. What would u use it for?
@BoomerMyBaby I'm thinking about using it to paint my guitars (you can't really tell in my "Duckitar" video just how bad the paint is). I think I might invest in this in the future. Thanks for the help!
what is your experience on the Paasche Double action airbrush? from what i can see on the box it dosnt say much more. The reason i want an airbrush is to paint/base cout miniatures
Awesome vid, I also looked on eBay but I had some better luck with manda, the one thing I did notice is that they sell different brands of airbrushes as well as the different actions. One is Veda, another one was called aerograph, out of those what would you suggest?
Great video bud. Checked eBay, no manda anything at all. If you're taking requests for future vids I would like to see at "what happens when .." type vid. You know where you have a problem with the tool, but don't know enough yet to realize what it is. Thanks.
What am I doing wrong? I have the Manda ones after watching this vid. I got the Veda WD-186 ones. I got two. The first one worked for the first session but struggled for ages to get it to blow paint the second session. Then the 2nd unit just would not blow paint at all from the get go. This is using Games Workshop paint and thinned with water which was always enough normally. They blow air fine but struggle to blow paint. Also they blow water fine but just refused to blow out the paint.
Chuck I'm a big fan of your no nonsense approach to teaching! I admire your BS detector and your rebellious attitude! That's what keesp you young! Thanks for all the help! Respect :)
I do alot of art but nothing is as bad as relying on equiptment . I have a royal air brush, nozzle AB-128 -AB-128P. basic acrylics paint.. Is spits paint .. so maybe I need it thinner . But the dual action is on constant spray??? how do I change that . no instructions.
I haven't tried the g23. The 130 is a good basic brush and the 180 offers the nice, handy little feature of an air adjustment right up front which makes changing pressure quick and easy.
your pin ups are awesome!
