His books on the whales and dolphins were groundbreaking and made a good case for humans not being the intellectual leaders on the planet! Some of this may seem a little strange but must be taken in a historical context! Dr Lilly was not afraid to go out of the bounds of convention, something that a number of people got ridiculed for, from certain segments of society, probably most notably Timothy Leary.
