That's the old Cary Furnace. Closed down in the '80's. It provided raw steel for the homestead works across the River. Homestead was doomed becuase it used Open Hearth Furnaces to make steel. And some scenes from the movie "The Road" were filmed there.
Pittsburg still has a mill at Bradock, Pa. US Steel has two blast furnaces and a basic oxygen furnance to make steel.
