They cut through anything and have that much power it's unbelieveable ,yes they are 2 stroke and really pack a punch ,one has now been handed down to my older brother and I highly rate them as I will be buying one myself in the near future...the only thing he has ever had done on them is the shaft on one of them just 2 years ago ,pretty good going for 20 years ...............
I love my brands like metabo /bacho/and generally things that are at least half german made or of the quality but I can say that my Father had his own lawn mowing business from 1987-1990 and bought 2 Shindaiwa brushcutters and man do those things keep going without a hassle ,he has had them both since 1988 and they just keep going .
STIHL is still by far the best, you just can't beat the amount of power that a 2-stroke throws when you hit the throttle, and also a 2-stroke sounds a bit nicer. The STIHL's have really fast power response when you hit the throttle!
Interesting comments mate, however I own a few Honda 4stroke products (blower, brushcutter & mower) & I can assure they all have more power than I need with the benefit of being very quiet as well as easy to start. I used stihl 2stroke products before & I found that they are very noisy - which doesnt mean they are more powerful. also with 2stroke, you need to be careful when mixing your oil and fuel. With 4stroke you have the oil in an oil chamber which is separate to the fuel - just like a car!
I know, but the 4 strokes (In my opinion) sound far worse than the 2 strokes. All of the people who do commercial mowering along raliway lines and highways all use two strokes like Stihl and Shindaiwa. There are no chainsaw's with 4 stroke engines because of the weight and power issues with them, also a 4 stroke can really only be in a horizontal position because of the lubrication. Don't get me wrong, I love 4 stroke mowers, they are the best, but a 2 stroke is better for small equipment.
