  • I'm in no way interested in religious dogma but I do have a deep love for the LDS members for some reason. Could this it could have been in response to the same treatment that they received in the past because of their polygamy.

Whatever the reason, I dont that that we'll get the real story. But what ever the real story is, someone was sick and evil to have cruelly murdered over 100 innocent and unarmed people who were just going to cali...to try to better their lot in life.

  • I have long been a critic of MMM and my position has been for years that the LDS church needed to throw open their archives, make full disclosure of whatever happened and put this puppy to rest. To say I have read a lot on this subject would not do my reading justice. I have read this book and found it to be a genuine attempt to finally let the light shine on the facts---good or bad. Perhaps now these poor people can rest in peace. And for the critics reading this, no I'm not LDS.

  • i have read three other books about the massacare, one for the church, one agaijnst the church and another neutral its true you need to find out for your self.i am very interested in reading this new book about the subject. i have come to my own conclusion before i joined the church and still didnt stop me

  • I say investigate and learn from both sides. Then ask God the source of all truth if you are really concerned about it.

  • If I wanted to know the truth about Scientology, would I ask a Scientologist?

  • I think readers should be assured that we left no stone unturned in the writing of this book, Walker said.

  • Everyone agrees that, looking back, the massacre was wrong. However, if you look at the history, the Mormon people truly felt their lives were in danger and that they had to kill those people to secure their own survival.

Of course, once the facts came out, their lives were not in danger and they made a terrible mistake.

The Mormons have been persecuted and pushed from one location to another and when people were once again coming to persecute them some more, they must have had enough.

  • the mormons were not in danger and the church should pay back all the cattle and posessions of the fancher party. and give them the funerary rights to the massacre site, shame on the mormons

  • @bagnon Just came across this. I am LDS and there is no justification for this act. There is also no evidence that the Church had anything to do with it. It was individuals that took it on themselves to do this.
