It's not sampled. Jessy Greene came in and recorded it for the album. Not sure if the melody is original but I would imagine so.

If you look into it, it's an incredibly diverse and wonderful genre with influences from almost any other genre imaginable. In fact, the background music of this piece? Created by Paper Tiger, a hip hop producer for Doomtree, the same group Dessa is a member of.
