My friend, your work is beautiful. I've been in the TV news game for more than 20 years. Right now, most of the professional videographers I know don't shoot half that well. So very nicely done. Please keep up the great work!
It is very easy. I only used macro for some shots. U can achieve almost the same depth of field without macro. Macro only enables u to shoot from closer distance. In order to get the depth of field u must zoom on something and focus it. Zoom for example 4-5 or more times on some object and then use auto or manual focus to focus on that object. The background will then be blurred. Same applies to macro shooting. Remember: u MUST zoom first. Then u focus on zoomed object.
This actually looks quite nice! I own the HC3, but haven´t had the chance to try HD yet! Looks very good even on YouTube ;) Sharpness, colors everything.. makes me want to go out and film something!
I make music for 15 years now and i play piano for 20 years now. I used some VST instruments, Reason sound banks, Cubase SX...
First there is an inspiration, Second there is a melody, Third there is a choice of an instrument, Fourth there are chords, background sounds, making a melody alive... :)
yes everyone remember a youtubed upload will not give an accurate rendition of any camera above the quality a good camera or sd video camera will produce, you can learn more from the comments.
Please buy at least BlackMagic Intensity HDMI capture card (about 250 dollars) for real resolution and real colours capturing. U can not capture real HD video through Firewire. U can only capture 1440x1080 via Firewire and then software streches your pixels to get 1920x1080 and plus u loose colours.
It destroyed mine too :( I just captured it in hd format. After editing and cutting i just exported it as windows media video advanced profile with the highest possible quality setting @400x300 res. Then, it was all up to youtube :( I hope i helped a bit.
Very good to the an first test, stable scenes and good photography. Be welcome to Youtube High Definition Group, join us, put your works in HD there. "../group/highdefinition"
I bought it in Sony store in Montenegro (My Country). I dont know its price at this moment. It should be around 1000 euros, but i am not sure. Its great :)
Im stuck. Im getting a HD camcorder but im trying to decide between a HDR-HC7 and this one. Is the footage from this video pretty acurate if you even load it onto say Windows Movie Maker. Lol. I have another but im just wondering? What do you think?
I heard that HC7 produces more noise due to higher sensitivity and higher number of pixels and bigger sensor. Dont know if that was true but im pretty happy with my HC3. Both are small lens radius cameras so the picture quality should be almost the same. C ya:)
I would recommend for u to get some basic video editing software capable of hd editing like video studio 11 or vegas. U can not make a mistake whether u choose hc3, hc5 or hc7. They are all great. I tried hc7 few days ago. Its good. I didnt understand your question about windowns movie maker. Pls rephrase :)
SR5 is a great camera. But it records on hard disk. Many people think that quality is better on tape because there is no additional compression. SR5 gives AVCHD format so you can expect some mpeg artifacts. Please google a bit to find out more about this. For more info, please contact me :) C ya
The bundled battery for me was NO-FP60. It records about an hour and a ten minutes in 1080i (HDV) mode when you only use it for recording. If you do rewinding, it lasts shorter. I recommend buying np-fp90 of fp91 if u are planning to take camera with you on a longer trip, walk or whatever :)
Does this camera shoot in 16:9? Is the 16:9 it's native format? Hod do you like this camera, I'm really interested in getting one :) Oh and does it have an input for a mic? Rated this video 5 stars by the way :)
Thanks for the STARS ;) It supports both 4:3 and 16:9 recording and output format. It does not have a classical mic in but you can attach one over accessory shoe at the top of the camera. There are even adapters that enable you to attach, for example, both video light and a mic at the same time. Its a great camera. I will upload a new video by the end of the week so you will see some of possibilities ;)
Man this was an awesome video. Given Five Star Ratings..!
By the way, in the third scene of the dried flowers, you focus on the flower at the background first and then change the focus to the dry flowers on the front. How do you do that when the camera does all the focusing automatically? Or is there a way to manually focus.
I look forward to your project. I am still in turmoil about camera. Maybe you can help. I want Dvx100 because theya re the cheepest 24p camera out there. Does the HDR HC3 have manual controls? White balance, focus, and iris? THANKS!
HC3 shoots in 50i mode that 25 fps. It does have manual white balance, iris and focus but does not have manual shutter speed. Its a great camera and its fantastic what it can do with its 30mm optics. I always export to 25 fps progressive to get the film look :) Now how about some ratings? :) Lets make it more than a 4 stars pls :)
Manual controls are pretty great. There is super accurate manual focus. There are auto, indoor, outdoor, one push white balance and white balance shift - cooler or warmer video. Shutter speed is locked with exposure settings and there are no manual controls for setting the shutter speed, but u can trick the camera and lock it for example at 50. if u liked the video pls rate it :) Thanks
Focus is manual and very accurate. There is auto, indoor and outdoor white balance. And there is one-pust white balance setting - u point camera towards white surface and camer calibrates white balance. There is also white balance shift - lets u pick cooler or warmer tone. Shutter speed is locked to exposure setting. There is no manual shutter speed control but there are some tricks to lock it. Hope u liked the video. If u did - rate it please :)

VisonHD,
Nice job, very relaxing. I shoot a lot of nature footage but don't put it up... yet.
It just doesn't look all that good on a mid-low end MiniDV cam. I'm working on a GL1 hopefully by the end of '08.
