wrong, you didn't read it correctly. Jay & Marty wrote the song and recorded it with the Empires after Leo left the group. Leo never recorded it because it wasn't written until Jay joined the group.

Let me set everyone straight here.....Jay Tranor was the 1st Jay but he only recorded a few songs with The Americans. David Black then became the lead singer for the group and changed his name to Jay Black and was the lead vocalist for the group on the majority of their hits, not the 1st Jay. The reason why its called "Jay & The Americans" is not to confuse him with the 1st , but less successful Jay who now sings with The Tokens.

Obviously, since you have commented negatively on every one of his performances, you don't have much of a life, or you have some kind of grudge against Jay. He isn't there for you to drool over. With a voice like that at his age, he doesn't need your approval. Plenty of us do like to see and hear him, so slither off to your sewer and clean the wax from your ears if you can.

I am glad you got in free. If this was a charity event and no one charged, How did the charity make any money? Your saying the show was free to the public and the group didnt get paid too? Bands play charity events all the time. I beleive charities do things to raise funds.

Annerenzo,I haven't forgotten all the great music Jay made with the Americans. But, that was 40 years ago. But, we are talking about this video. Look at it. If you had to pay $75.-$100. a ticket to see this. Wouldn't you feel you were cheated. This takes away all the greatness. Its a memory. P.s. I love Echo And The Bunnymen.

Just saw Jay Black in Ft Lauderdale Jan 2008.. Believe me HE IS THE MAN... He is THE VOICE

69 years old and a Much better all around performer than he ever was.. Jay is without a doubt a straightshooter... he tells it like it is.. you like it or not.

One more thing his comedy routine ongoing during the show should not be missed.. he leaves out no one.. not even his son beau

Was he really good in Ft Lauderdale in Jan 08??? I used to see Jay in the 1970s and he was great. But, lately hes not the same. Look at this video from Wildwood above. Its awful. Jay looks terrible and he can't sing the songs. It looks like he doesn't care. Have you seen the Jay And The Americans with Jay Reinecke, Sandy Deane, Marty Sanders & Howie Kane? They are fantastic. If you are a fan of this music you owe it to yourself to see Jay And The Americans.

Many decades have passed, but the talent is

there. I always liked the two broadway songs

recoeded in pop style by Jay Black and the

Americans. "Tonight" from West Side Story

and " Some Enchanted Evening" from South

Pacific. Pity they did not record more Broadway favorites.

I agree. I just heard their first new recording in 35 years - something called "little Senorita" or close to that and it was terrible. The new Jay (Johnny Starr or Jay Reinke) did not have anyone to impersonate.
