As an African American woman whose forefathers were enslaved in South Carolina it is disappointing to hear that Africans look at us in amusement. Wow! YOu know theres something called a "dual citizenship in which you can have more than one citizenships. Some countries allow it, some dont. So if youre born in America (of course youre already a natural born citizen of America) and you wanted to get a citizenship in China to live there. So If youre genetically Mexican and you get a citizenship at Italt. you'll be Italian-Mexican. Same thing. If your black and get a citizen in Italy. you'll be black - Italian. YOu know theres something called a "dual citizenship in which you can have more than one citizenships. Some countries allow it, some dont. So if youre born in America (of course youre already a natural born citizen of America) and you wanted to get a citizenship in China to live there. You will have to let go of youre American citizenship. Cuz countries like China, Japan India, Malaysia, etc. dont allow more than one citizenships. So you cant be Black-Chinese.

You are correct, these people who hyphenate their name with African American, should only call themself Americans. Most Americans have heritage from another country, but do not Hyphenate their name, I am of English and Italian Descent, but refer to myself as American! Anyway, my thinking......:)
