@TheGreatrix8 Hey! Well, learning some basic theory, especially scales, really helps to let you recognize certain patterns on the fretboard and figure out songs more easily. As for chords I would advice you to find the basic note first and start trying out different chords to see what works best. Or you can always take a look at the tabs if there are any available ;)

Do you have any picking tips for a guitarist that was too lazy to actually buy a pick until 3 years of guitar playing?

@DarkAsure Well, don't use a pick at all then ;) If that's what works for you, you like the tone that it creates and you don't feel limited at all, I'd say stay with the fingers. However if you do feel limited or you don't like the tone, then start with a metronome and just try to play various notes like 4ths 8ths, 16ths and 32s over a standard beat to gain control over your picking. Start slow and gradually speed up once you feel like you are able to play it clean. Hope this helps :)
