Ha ha yeah I learned how to read and write katakana and thought I was getting somewhere and then found out that I had to learn a minimum of 500 kanji to actually get by.
I always find it kinda akward-ish saying kudasai lol, in class when we're saying something with kudasai like with uhh verb TE form + kudasai. I end up kinda saying something like kurasai xD;;I dunno it comes out sounding all muddy. Plus my class is all silent and shows 0 enthusiasm when speaking out loud, which I really can't stand because for me it helps to speak what I've learned .. Anyway, nice video :3 ~
I remembered here is also "Sesha". I think that's how it's spelled. The context I have seen it in would mean that it's a very humble way of referring to one self.
Been a while since I ever heard it though, so I'm not sure.
So now you're gonna ask questions on this video!? LOL! This is gonna be a never ending project. Not blaming you. I just created a hole for myself, I'm thinking.
To answer your question.
No. You only say HAJIMEMASHITE the first time. After that you just say:
Konnichiwa / Hello.
or
Hisashiburi / Long time no see.
I really appreciate the support on these vids! Thanks!
Victor, thanks for this, also could you try making some videos using Spanish together with English and Japanese for ppl interested in both of these languages?
Is it true that during a conversation, a japanese person may pause with a length that is uncomon for a westerner( the pause is too long, and how you view this?) Thanks again
... omg. lol *blushes* I heard my user name in it and couldn't listen to the rest of the video. LOL XD I have never been mentioned in a vlog before. ^_^ It's fine tho. Feel free to do that anytime you want 2. ^_^
I learned people use these also, うーんん、with intonation like neah....or ちょっとーfor no.
and for yes, うん with intonation like はい YES !
is it right ?

You forgot one form of "me", but perhaps it is more a form of "we". Watakshi. Not sure about the spelling of it, but I know the sound.
To my knowledge, it is a very formal way of speaking about you and others, a group.
Or I might be mixing this up completely.

Is "いっぺん しんで みる?" right?
Or should it be "いっぺんしんでみる?"?
Are commas used in Japanese or a Japanese character in its place or not at all?
Like "いっぺん, しんで みる?"?
SquashyJohnson 3 years ago

Commas are used but not in this case.
All run together is fine.
いっぺんしんでみる?" Is fine.

Anyway, great videos, keep it up!

There are too many words for that can be used as "I".
Watashi, atashi, boku, ore, ware, washi, oira...
I'm probably missing a few.
ruroremy 3 years ago

ware and washi are pretty old.
oira is like ... only weird people say .
BUT thanks for the input...I might have to make a special video on JUST this subject.

Thank you very muchly. "Suki" also happens to have a silent u. Just thought I should put that out there.
SquashyJohnson 3 years ago

It seems very difficult to describe the "rules" for silent vowels... "U" (suki) can be silent... "I" (shika) can be silent.
Doesn't the "understatement" of vowels also vary between Japanese dialects?
watcher8o 3 years ago
You are correct. After discussing this with REAL Japanese it is not that easy to say whether a sound is silent or not.
