Mike had no choice, lol. Judo rules you can't pull guard. He's been guillotined in grapplers quest after a failed shot. His ego probably got the best of him because of the way he tried to jump sloppy out of the guard. How hard is it to feel somebody wrenching on your arm, lol. He would never do that in a bjj tournament. Good job by John!
uhh...ive rollled with him, and seen him roll against my black belt coach, ..and trust me..that armbar was no fluke....hes got the armbar to freakn science. Gets it all the time
Nothing John Baylon does on the ground is a fluke. I've seen him, and occasionally trained with him, for 15 years at the Kodokan, and he is a newaza master.
@byrdjp Fowler was out of his element here, as this was a Judo tournament. He tried to force the single leg, and left his arm exposed. Perhaps he underestimated Baylon's submission skills.
bro.. pansin mo.. bkit kaya yung ibang pinoy lalo na dito sa side ng kumukuha ng video sa audience... they are cheering for the foreigner... well sorry na lang sila... Filipino pride.. Baylon Rules
what youre saying is racism: to root for a person because of their race. they are chanting for the foreigner dahil coach nila sa brazilian jiujitsu nila yon
@neilfireballkid Thank you for taking notice of this. As a former martial artist who has gone abroad to represent the country, it feels so good to carry one's flag and the honor of one's own country. One gets to feel it only when one is abroad. And it really pains me when I see fellow countrymen cheering not for you but for your own opponent. I never see this in any other country. Even the chinese here will cheer for the basketball team of China in a game against the Filipinos.
@neilfireballkid If Mike Fowler were one's teacher and one finds himself in a predicament whether to cheer for his teacher or his fellow countryman, then it would be best and honorable to just sit down and keep quiet and not show this type of dishonorable behavior. One cannot say sport lang to pre, no need to feel patriotic about it. Even Barrera told Pacquiao (just before the latter's fight with Marquez) that although he is a mexican and would root for Marquez, he would place his bet on Pacmn.

Is this Judo Rules or BJJ?

Very nice...

as a fully qualified judo referee, blue should have been disqualified at 1:08 for attacking while on his knees, with a standing opponent.

Whoever thinks that is a fluke is an idiot. John has been playing for a long time against world class competition.
John had a nice Uchi Mata attack and a great newaza sweep with armbar from the guard position.
Mike is good but you can't really compare a Olympic Judoka like John to him it's really not fair.

Sweet! Too bad they couldn't get a close up of the armbar.

This was a pretty even match. Looks like the armbar was actually a fluke.

I don't speak for any of the athletes in the video, but that sounds insulting to Baylon.
