@callumazoo11 well it depends on personal sound preference...do you want an "in your face" rock sound \m/ or do you want more of a bluesy, warm, sound...I have a dot and i love it...mabey that is because I love the blues sound and music...but idk...personal preference....(OH and btw...the Dot is actually surprisingly really good for metal tone also! ;))
I have an epi les paul deluxe II and it`s a really good guitar. However, I tried one of these (in the uber cool white ltd edition) in my local guitar store and fell in love with it. So I have both now :-)
@callumazoo11 If your'e going Les Paul, check out the Agile AL series, preferably the Agile AL-3000. They are a great brand, better than Epiphone BY FAR, and are very affordable. Trust me.
@callumazoo11 What type of sound do you want? I own both and I have to say the epiphone dot deluxe is more features and sound for the money. The dot deluxe in vintage sinburst has a flametop and sounds amazing clean but even better with distortion. If you put it in the bridge postion and roll of the tone to 5 it gives the perfect tone of a les paul. Experimenting is key with this guitar. Get the dot.
I'm thinking about getting one of these guitars. Does anyone know if it's worth putting 57 classics in this guitar after I buy it? I'm definitely not rich enough for a Gibson ES-335
They don't mention that the input falls into the guitar and the volume control goes loose after a day. And the "E" falls off pretty easily.
With that said I love the guitar, a great guitar for its price, just be prepared to take her back to the shop to get the input fixed and put a new set of controls on.
(the input is covered under warranty, so don't make that put you off it!)
It's a lot of guitar for a little money. Sounds great and looks just like the 'real' thing. The neck feels a bit thick but easy to play. Wouldn't part with it.
@IcarusCinematics ive seen one in alpine ... at a rush concert in tampa i got a pretty close look at alex's guitars and he had a custom es in white and it was beautiful ... i also have an sg in alpine and i still have yet to find one more eye appealing ... its a truely lovely finish
If Gibson made a Casino, would it be a real Casino? No, because Epiphone made it first. Likewise, if Epiphone makes a 335, it's not a real 335 since Gibson made it first. By your logic, a $120 SX Strat copy would be a real strat, which it is not. More accurately, a Squier strat copy would be a real strat. Once again, it is not.
Nice play on words, not. Also, 4000 dollars my left asshole, the satin finish ES-335 is 2 grand, and that thing sounds unreal. Better than the fancier ones, even.
@matthewgwilt Yeah man! It was a tough shoot, most of the guitars had just come out of the box, and each one was set up diffrently, there wasnt to much time to get each one properly intonated and set up. :)
does this guitar sound good with distortion for playing green day for example and maby for some louder things like metallica because i really like it(the feel, the look and the sound but i like plying rock in general.
@eduardozpn I've had a couple of these models, now I have the Elite edition (Made in Japan), and they're good for rock'n roll. I've even used them for hard rock. It all depends on how loud you're playing, but you will surprised at how much volume they are able to handle. Good guitars considering the price.
So I wonder, is this a goo guitar or a disapointing guitar? Everyone seem to have different oppinions. I have always like this guitar and I was suppose to purshase it. But now i don't really know. How's the quality? Tell me tell me! I am suppose to make up my mind tomorrow.
@gmalox well other than the fact that ones made in usa the others made in asia it's a pretty legitimate question. i'd think twice before asking that question ever again.
@sunp yeah. I guess so. I own a Gibson ES335. But I was curious as well about the Epiphone vs Gibson differences when i bought the Gibson so I played both at the shop. The Gibson just felt and sounded like a high quality instrument. You could definitely tell the difference. Is it worth the (lot of) extra deniros? Up to you I guess. I certainly haven't looked back.
Do this guitar stay in tune ? It's not the case of all Epiphone ;-)

Cause I'm 6' 2" and the Dot helps me to stay steady, the LP's body is too small.
