if the excesses are not invested, then they do not generate any sort of a return, which is unfair to the person that could have used his money that was taxed to invest in something that he believed would give some sort of a return.
social security is problematic in a fundamental way:
if social security taxes in excess of payouts to retired people are "invested" in US treasury securities, then basically the "trust fund" is an IOU from the very institution that is supposed to be managing it.
if the excesses are invested in something other than US treasury securities, then there is an inherent risk that social security was supposed to have been created to protect against.

Privatizing social security is the only way to save it. Chile's version is a great example. The classic defined benefit model is good in theory but has failed time after time in the real world. Look at how underfunded state pensions are as well as social security.

@qualityrkc well the Heritage foundation had apart in the bill and I'm sure other organizations assisted. No congressman writes this legislation for the most part. For the most part it's think tanks and their aids. But that doesn't mean he didn't employ his vision. He still has more knowledge regarding economics than most other people up on capitol hill. social security is problematic in a fundamental way:
if social security taxes in excess of payouts to retired people are "invested" in US treasury securities, then basically the "trust fund" is an IOU from the very institution that is supposed to be managing it.
if the excesses are invested in something other than US treasury securities, then there is an inherent risk that social security was supposed to have been created to protect against.

Privatizing social security is the only way to save it. Chile's version is a great example. The classic defined benefit model is good in theory but has failed time after time in the real world. Look at how underfunded state pensions are as well as social security.

@BorislavX No it isn't. There is no federal law that tells cops to ask for people's papers on the street. Even if there was that wouldn't make that law not xenophobic and racist.
DADT was still homophobic then, but it was a compromise between what the liberals wanted and what the homophobic conservatives wanted, and substantially less homophobic than the previous policy.
See how everything I said was actually right? That is what happens when you try to "argue valid points". You got nothing.

As of don't ask don't tell, I would oppose any open sex in the army, homo or hetero... Army is not playboy magazine... The law has Clinton's name on it, so you're 100% wrong.

@BorislavX You keep saying 100% wrong. It isn't a magic incantation that makes you win an argument that you have provided no evidence for. Clinton having signed DADT in no way mitigates that republican support of it is homophobic. The notion that everyone in the military is ever going to keep their sex lives a total secret from everyone they work with is a ludicrous fantasy.
Requiring brown people to carry proof that they are Americans is way more harsh, like Soviet Russia harsh.

@monokhem Sorry, the law has nothing, absolutely nothing about any race. I would support a law banning all displays of sexuality in the army. Homo and hetero... Don't ask don't tell is a bad idea so both dems and repubs who signed it into law were wrong imo.

@BorislavX Yes it does. Just because something isn't overtly written doesn't mean it isn't there. What part of checking the papers of suspected aliens doesn't add up to racist to you? It doesn't take a great mind to see how this works.
Again, banning "displays of sexuality in the army" is impossible, impractical, totally subjective, and a bigger nest of stupid problems than DADT. We could just assume people in the military aren't crybaby wussies and move on.

You are wrong. The cops in Arizona only have a right to check the immigration status of a person who has already been arrested, detained, or stopped for ANOTHER altercation, but even if that wasn't the case and you were right, I do think we need to deport all illegals weather you are from Ireland, Russia or Mexico. Race has nothing to do with it.

I believe in the deportation of most illeagle aliens, although I think you are pretty scummy if you are against the dream act.
Deportation is impractical though. $100,000 fine for each illegal hired should do it.

I just think you are wrong. Please look up the warding on the Arizona Bill and you will see that I am in fact paraphrasing it correctly. I would agree with finding companies who hire illegals in addition to deportation and closing the border.

As a LEGAL immigrant and naturalized US citizen I do not think it to be fair that people and children of people who's first act in America was violation of her borders and immigration law should give them college aid or any other benefits that naturalized and native American citizens do not receive...

Either way wouldn't you think it is a bit wrong for a man and woman in the army to be taking showers together? If you agree why would you think it would be ok for hetero and homosexual men to be showering together. Don't you think that this will create sexual tension which is something that troops on the line of fire do not need?

@BorislavX A "display of sexuality" is a totally subjective and amorphous term. People have covered piano legs before because they were considered a "display of sexuality." The same goes for every part of the female anatomy, hugging, walking confidently, walking confidently while nude, having a particularly large part of you anatomy and wearing certain clothes, recommending the movie Wild Things, and talking about how you miss your wife.
I think male a female soldiers should shower together.

@monokhem You make a pretty good point. There would have to be exact wording and qualification of what this display would mean. But again, I do not want to be showing and sharing a locker room with women or homosexual men. That does not mean I hate them, but you do understand why I say that I do not want to be in this situation, correct?
