@meod8 oh sorry i thought you were german because of the german voices in the background of the video, sure. doesnt the metal crêpe ''knife'' to change the side of the crepe make scretches on the crêpe machine? :D
@MrFluenza I suppose it does, in the same way that a spatula would scratch a frying pan. I am an Indian who grew up in India, lived all my adult life in the US (where I still live) --I briefly lived in Bonn in 2007 thus my German connection! I studied a little bit of German in school and then took a class in Bonn when we were living there, but it has unfortunately mostly disappeared from my brain! Once in a while, I pass by some German-speaking people here and I'm drawn like a moth to a flame!
@SquintBones About 6 feet tall and 150 lbs. :-) Sorry, couldn't resist. Did you mean the flat surface the crêpe is on or the wooden thing he uses to spread it?
@meod8 lol I meant the flat surface. I've been thinking about getting a crepe maker for personal use and I want to get an idea of how large of a maker I should get.
in der tat ich habe viele nahmen fuss crepes baker roter um nur ein paar zu nennen es ist auch nicht nur ein job für mich und dumme sprüche bin ich gewöhnt aber auch die anerkennug vieler lieber kunden denen sei dank
@LucaGibsonMusic - Really? Some people disliked this video?! For some reason I can only see the "thumbs up" signs. Well, thank you for your comment. I didn't think of this earlier but if anyone wants to see my blog entry corresponding to this video, here it is: monaontheloose.blogspot.com/2007/12/crpe-maker-in-bonn.html
@thegoodgeneral - it was vanilla sauce, a typical ingredient that crepe-makers in Germany use. I never saw condensed milk on any crepe-makers' list of choices and certainly not on this guy's.
argh! I have a crepe machine in my Cafe and I am having so much trouble making crepes. I think I got down the recipe correctly, but when I put the batter on the crepe iron and use the T shaped wooden stick to swirl it around the pan, it cooks too fast, and I end up with a screwed up crepe ( a part of it is too thick and part of it is thin as paper) I have the heat on low too! What I'm I doing wrong?
I unfortunately know nothing about making crepes. This guy in the video said he'd been doing it for 30 years. Maybe that's the trick. :-) I saw other crepe makers in Bonn that weren't as good as him.
As for it cooking too fast, is your iron too hot? I know from making regular pancakes that it helps to turn the heat down after initially heating it up to a high heat.
@Azngamer2006 Heat on low is right, but batter must be thin enough to spread.
Batter can not be to thick or it will not spread. Try to add alittle water with batter to thin, it usually works for me. First side of crepes should cook at low heat for about 20 seconds, then flip. Wait 5 seconds on second side and you are done..Enjoy ! Hope this helps alittle.
