The little-to-big character thing is a part of the hack. Since it is a SMW hack, it is also a Mario reference.

Yes. The "Star" power-up is not final. I know nothing about Hex-editing, sadly. If there is a way to make Poppy throw Bombs instead of Stars... Hmm...
