@elainesman Ya, in the Harris-Jefferson fight I think Jim Lampley mentions that Harris sparred 100 rounds with Lewis...Couple other things; this is the first fight I've seen where Harris doesn't get knocked out haha and I think he'd of done much better at Cruiserweight or Light Heavy. And maybe he'd of been better if he sparred with James Toney instead..
some interestingly intelligent comments about mo Harris [ MH]. i remember stuff from way back in boxing mags about mo'= lennox lewis talking about gym scene + saying MH was the most talented hvy'wt he had seen, and yes had sparred him. believe read another similar quote from ? else too. Larry holmes knew MH had beat him when he was gifted decision against mo on comeback trail= rueful smile + gracious comments. Maybe too small, quite probably chin defiencies, ianandori has it right methinks.
Harris reminds me of Freeid Pendleton without the worlld title of course. Pendleton managed to hook up with decent trainers/promoters later in his career. Not so for the clearly talented Harris.
Maurice Harris had all that raw talent and made it work when he didnt have the best trainers or anything I wish he'd had a better promotional company behind him and real trainers he could have done so much more in his career
@DramaMC he had a glass jaw that was his main problem- u see the ko losses? especially against jefferson & okendo?? harris had ability but he didnt have the chin 2 compete at top level, every time they tried 2 step him up in class he got ko'd, badly too
yeah but I think if he'd had the right trainer they could have found ways to help with his style so he wasn't caught all the time. I mean look, Amir Khan has a bad chin, but with the right trainer it's not so evident because he puts a lot of work behind it and his trainer worked on his style. I wish Harris had had such luck.
if a guy has a weak chin,he better have something else which is exceptional 2 make up 4 it- amir khan has exceptional speed &agility, tommy hearns had exceptional power and accuracy,i just dont see anything exceptional in mo harris 2 make up 4 that flaw..maybe he coulda done betta with betta coaching & conditioning, but i still dont think he couldve ever beent hreat at championship level...he used 2 be lennox lewis sparring partner,i think thats the closest he woulda eva got 2 a world title fight
He's on a good roll as of late 23rd ranked heavyweight in the world!

Both of these fighters had talent, the Liakhovich/Brewster fight was a classic, why isn't that fight on here anymore?
I don't get why Liakhovich would fight off of the ropes, it is very dangerous to do so.

Lyahovich was very ill and had bad reaction in this fight. It si true. I'm not lessen Harris' skills and heart.
