In the UK it's automatic and you can retain duel citizenship without any fuss. In Germany you are forced to disown one nationality unless you are half German white.

@Amandalx21 I'm half white English/Nigerian born in England and we don't have these nationalist issues anymore like Germany. England accepts people who are born here as English if they want to live as English. England seems 20 years ahead of Germany in race acceptance.
Germany still seems to have a genetic obsession over race and being German. Although people like OZIL are moving Germany forward.

@57worldwide That's what is sad about Germany. Only recently has being born an immigrant in Germany automatically make you a German citizen, I think the past 10-15 years. In the UK it's automatic and you can retain duel citizenship without any fuss. In Germany you are forced to disown one nationality unless you are half German white.

@ojideagu If you are born in New Zealand waters, you can receive New Zealand citizenship. You don't even need to be born inside the physical country.
You only get German citizenship if you are born with one parent having a German residence permit, and they have had it for three years, or if one parent has been residing in Germany for eight years. It is very strict.

How can people claim they aren't integrating while at the same time making it so hard to be a German citizen or considered German? If Germany wanted people to integrate they should have made being and feeling German a lot easier.

@ojideagu I agree with you. It's nonsense as far as I'm concerned, when people are blaming immigrants for the problems manifesting. When the society is exclusive, it leads to isolation, where different cultures isolate themselves from each other. Then, it's easy for counter cultures to form. Of course, there will be some people who are criminals. It doesn't mean that there is something wrong with the immigrant - there have been Turkish people immigrating to Germany for longer than I have lived.

I agree with germans in many cases. I am Turk living in Turkey and I saw thousands of Turks who came from germany and france in my city a few months ago.I thought they were immigrants from a different country untill i learned they were really turkish.I coulndnt believe in my eyes.They are not german but they are not turkish either.They act unrespectfully even in their own countries.I suggest them come back to turkey,maybe we can save the new generation.They r embarassing Turkish people&culture
