  • QUE VENGA MAS POLVO!...

  • YESSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!

    Listen the pianist !!!!!!

The best version of Elmore without any doubt.

  • Happy birthday Elmore James (Jan 27)

  • Buenisimo el sonido!, supongo que está remasterizado.

  • yeah all of a sudden you are all blues lovers..... plz!!! how fake

  • @TheSnakeeater2012 gotta start sometime....

  • @TheSnakeeater2012 Relax, Anybody can come to love the blues, at any time. loving any kind of music has no schedule. Now chill out.

  • Muy bueno.

  • uahu! que sonido y q version...total subt...

  • A great bluesman!!

  • I'm trying to learn this as my first slide song.

  • @gitfiddlejim Not familuar with Blue Horizon records but Bobby Robinson owned Fire & enjoy records & you are right did these right before Elmore's death. He had already had a heart attack before & stopped playing for a while at this point. But it hurts me too & the sky is crying came out of these sessions. But has anyone heard Elmore in his prime recordings? Blues After Hours is the master at his best. Shake your money maker was also done in his prime. No one touches these tracks I wonder why?

  • I've heard so many versions of this song by Elmore, but this was the first I heard. Still the best one in my opinion

  • Now we know where rock and roll comes from...

  • Still thrills me like the first time I heard it back on the 50's when I was a wee lad. White music was okay but this stuff was supernatch'ral. Got to hear John Lee Hooker, Howlin' Wolf and Muddy on the radio back then...the world was on fire. Then they disappeared off white radio until John Mayal made it come all over again.

  • Having heard many versions of this by Elmore, I think this is the best. Happy to be pointed to a better one though!

  • WOW - I have goosebumps!

  • god i love this!!

  • Great stuff! Thanks for sharing!

  • this guy was ahead of his time, eh? i don't know...at least, almost ahead...wow!

  • @ToadCharmer I know, Shakespeare was way off too with his quill pen, now with your laptop, you can write so much better than Hamlet! So, just be clear with what you're trying to say or not to, and don't be ashamed to stand up for it if you know what you mean. Technology evolves: advances, art CANNOT. It's not its nature. Different gig. End of story. Thanks.

  • @ToadCharmer hey....the meaning of evolution is not up to interpretation. You can call an apple a carrot it'll still be an apple. Your opinion has caused me no discomfort I just generally am in favor of intellectual honesty. This couldn't be less personal it's prettty matter-of-fact. Look up evolution in a dictionary or even a synonym-theasaurus. I guess you might be surprised.

  • @ToadCharmer no, not really. Maybe you used the wrong word, maybe it's not what you meant, but there is no "misconception" whatsoever, common or rare, about the definition of evolution, that's part of the reason dictionaries were invented, really. There is nothing philosophical about this you should be clear about the meaning of the word. I differentiated between change and evolution, that was the whole point of my comment.

  • @ToadCharmer No, "different directions and genres" don't mean PROGRESS. Or you could compare Mozart to the Neanderthals. Music cannot EVOLVE it can only CHANGE. Or you could be making the argument justin bieber is far more advanced than Elmore James. Or Bach. Art simply doesn't work that way.

  • @ToadCharmer evolutionary....branch?? you mean....music has EVOLVED since this...??

  • ELMORE JAMES ROCKS! LOVE that Honky Tonk Piano. OH YEAH.... What a KILLER song!!!!

  • UNTOUCHABLE!

  • No dislikes. What do you expect? no one dislikes this

  • this is the music i heard the old folks play at the 4th of july barbecues back in the day here in st. louis. the old folks would drink johnnie walker red and 1843 and eat barbecue. they would have a ball. all of the young people would have a ball watching the old folks attempt to dance. talk about good memories. no drive by shootings. just people loving and respecting each other. all the adults in the neighborhood were your parents. good memories!

  • just awesome !

  • This music is absolutely magnificent.

  • Well I woke up this morning think I'll pick cotton. Well I woke up this morning think I'll pick cotton. Before the massa whips me gots to get my cho's done.

  • Great

  • " SOUL "

  • the thing about rock is: well, Blues was more classy.

  • This is probably the greatest ever blues cover!!

  • This is not the '51 recording for Trumpet that featured Sonny Boy Williamson II but a recording made in late '62/early '63 for Fire/Enjoy featuring "Big Moose" Walker on piano. Still good, but not the 1951 version.

  • Agreed, SoberG. In my opinion this is the best version he did. A 60 year old song written during times of much adversity that still stirs the soul. Outstanding quality that will live forever.

  • his voice is aweeeesommeeeeeeee

  • Great stuff, I like Hound Dog Taylor version of this classic.

As Hound Dog used to say `Everybody know the Hound`

R.I.P. Hound Dog Taylor, Miss you Man!

  • He was just so damn good. This was recorded in 1951. There was no roadmap for rock and roll back then. Elmore james and a handful of other black bluesmen were writing the roadmap. These recordings were done in a couple of takes using only a couple of tracks. As crude as these recordings may be, there is something really beautiful in their simplicity. As simple as this music may appear, it is also very complex. Elmore James was equally great in both vocals and guitar. Thanks for the upload.

  • SORRY guys but the original 1951 recording issued on TRUMPET 146 has NO piano accompaniment but Guitar, Harmonica, Bass and Drums only !!!!!!

    Reference = The 2006Blues Discography 1943 - 1970 by Les Fancourt , page 256

    Quo Vides

    SORRY again !!!!!

  • @Bumblebee38 what version is this and what cd is it on

  • This is the real Rock and Roll.

  • The most distinctive guitar riff in blues and rock.

  • tell it,tell it just like it is brother !!!!!

    Thanks xxxx

  • fine choice,...yeah!

  • i've been looking for this for so long...thanks!

are there two versions of this song?

  • Nice Vid - Great Backdrop to a like really cool tune.

Best of the Bestest - Elmo!

Thanks for putting it on the Tube

    Love to you all, "Suzie"

  • Mean vocals!!! Nice variation!!
