  • hi, propably you are playing a dutar. It is the main plucked instrument all over Central Asia. It looks and sound similar. You can show us this instrument from less magnified view, then maybe I will be able to confirm my presumption. At this time I can only make conjectures this is a "dutar". Best regards. Nice playing btw :)

  • Maybe if u show it better someone could recognize what kind of instrument it is..

Btw it has a nice sound.

  • @frikken20 no it's not a sitar

  • is that fishing line for strings?

  • its a tahitian ( Tahiti -French Polynesia ) style ukelele, in the hands of a profesional it sounds awesome. I know this becoz im from a neighbouring country ( Cook Islands) i must say your improv on an instrument you dont know of is pretty good. standard tuning is G C E A. check out "tahitian music" on youtube and you'll see this intrument played by many, though you may not understand what the hell they'll be singing about

  • hmm is it a sitar?

  • Can you upload video showing the instrument from a few sides?

  • dude that was awesome. can you put up another video of this so we can see the instruments full body and stuff?

  • tiny dulcimer?

  • the instrument saund and appierance like turkish baglama

  • Quite wonderful music. I do wish you had shown the entire instrument though.

  • Whatever it is, you make it sing! Great playing!

  • haha this could be a ukulele but i doubt it... its like 2 octaves higher then a regular uke.... idk what that is...

  • Could be a Tahitan Ukulele

    Four Strings.. G C E A

  • Quite nice.

  • sounds like a shamisen

  • i wish the camera could see the whole instrument, but cool song tho. what instrument is it?

  • nice play.

  • Whatever the instrument is, that was fantastic playing

  • you like metal. NO?

  • Pipa would have more strings tho

  • I think that is a Chinese Pipa. I recognise the sound as one anyway, could be some other type of lute though.

  • no no no pipa has 4 strings and has about 32 frets dumbass

  • silly american!

  • Pipa has much richer sound

  • Great playing, very impressive!

Fraid I don't know what it is though.

  • Check RHYTHMTANDEM for another strange instrument.

  • it looks sorta like a dulcemur.. you know a folk music type thing...its used in a lot of blue grass

  • no! its not a saz!

saz is very diferent! saz is bigger than this instrument!

  • I think what you have is a Saz. They are from Iran and Turkey usually.

The turks tend to use three string versions, and there is a two string version found sometines in Iran.

Yes, you did a nice job on ot.

  • Cool instrument and you play it beautifully!

  • sounds like a sitar

  • i dunno wtf that is but its got more strings than i can count

  • Instead of making fun of what you said, I'll just take the high road and point out what the guy said: it's only got two strings. Granted, they're a bit hard to see, so I can understand what you mean. They look like fishing string to me.

  • What if the high road doesn't lead home!? :(

  • ¯\(°3°)/¯

  • _/).E.(\_

  • you can't count very high.

  • shred that... thing!!!

  • lol

  • i am shure that this instrument's name is VIOLA DA GAMBA. There are only 2-3 mans in the world who can make this insrument. It is from BAROKKO period

  • i'm not agree: for me that isn't a viola, for me it look like a LIUTO (an other european instrument)

    In Italy people write BAROCCO

    not BAROKKO

and in English mans is wrong: men

  • i am sorry for my mistakes: i am from Belarus, i don't know English well. )

i couldn't to listen it that time, so it was stupid to write that i'm shure :)

it's only looks like a viola da gamba.

last time I was looking for an musicant (Vladimir Volkov, he plays conrabass and viola da gamba) and by this way i faund your video (i don't know why). So I thought that it's a viola.

  • hey man

    look...

viola da gamba is another completely different intrument.

By the way , the ethimology of viola da gamba is viola between knees.

And you can see videos about this intrument who uses bow to play her on youtube.

  • i know it now. i did a mistake.

thank you! i will see videos when i can, now my internet is too slow for this :)

    Good luck!

  • Dude, Viola da Gamba is an early family of BOWED instruments.

  • haha I can tell you play guitar. I think I used to know what that was but it's name has escaped my mind.

  • haha I can tell you play guitar. I think I used to know what that was but it's name has escaped my mind.

  • lol nice little jazzy improv at twenty something... never watched your vids but obviously you play guitar

  • A balalaika?

  • It's definitely not a balalaika

  • It looks a bit like a Chinese Pipa, but it's hard to see.

If it's supposed to have 4 strings and the frets are raised really high, it's probably some kind of soprano pipa...

  • It sounds and looks a bit like a Saz...

But, it would be easier to decide if you did show the whole instrument and not a bit of the grip-board...

  • It sounds like a Tahitian Ukulele.

  • Isn't that a back packers guitar? pretty common. Easily ordered online.

  • for an instrument you dont know what is called you are v good at it

  • Thanks !!

On the vid the tunning it's like on a guitar, so it's easier to play it.

  • cool...i like!!!

  • quel instrument est-ce que c'est, dude?

  • I think it's a Ukulele, but it doesn't look like a Ukulele. So, I don't really know what is it.

  • on dirait un Saz turc. Même sonorité et même style d'instrument.

  • O.O your good at whatever it is

  • why don't you SHOW us what kind of instrument it is, instead of just showing the fret board?

  • Rémi, pourquoi t'es con ??

  • big shit, to big marten...

  • Pask y'a pas que des francais justement

  • pourquoi t'écri en anglais alors ki a ke D franC ki von maté ta vidéo??????????

  • tu gére gros j'adore !
