She's a beautiful woman that brings back my grandma's Irish spirit. She passed away in 2003 and this video reminds me that she's not far away, that she's right in front of me at all times. She seems to have the same lovely, happy, tender spirit that mine had. I thank ya for sharing this video! :)
this lovely lady happens to be my mom. she was one of the sweetest and funniest people i have ever known. she KNEW just how silly those bouncing shamrocks looked and played them for all they were worth. . i suggest you watch again with a less negative outlook and listen for my laughter and watch her try to keep from cracking up when she hears me.. my mother was from ireland and full of wise advice. dont take life too seriously is some that comes to mind right now. get a sense of humor.
Love it! That is something my mom would do too, she is exceptionally lady lady like, yet anyone who knows her well would know she was horsing around, She would do the same at 30 as she would at 80, in fact so would I.
thank you so much for your nice comment. I was really taken aback when the last person viewed it as a form of abuse. Most people "get it" i hope. I am just as silly as her. i miss her, but feel i was blessed with the best mom in the world! alongside your's, of course!
I didn't get it either, maybe some people think older people should be locked away and hidden instead of celebrating their age with joy, sometimes we hide away those in the most precious years of their lives, I think some people have cruel hearts & only see darkness & some have joyous hearts & see happiness, we must be the ones that see a woman celebrating her life & are overjoyed to witness it. Thank you for sharing your mom with us. I love it when she breaks character & almost starts laughing
You poor, silly thing, your concern is sadly misplaced. Clearly, you don't have an Irish Nana or Mam, or you'd appreciate the spirit with which this is intended. BTW, you should see Janet Deese's website, she's a national treasure, selflessly helping others to find their Irish ancestry; NOT who most folks think of when they hear "elder abuse" LOL!! Pay this fool no mind, Janet, thanks for sharing your beautiful Mom's good humor with us! ;^) XOXO
So are we seeing the actual Rosie McCann in this video, or what?
The song was apparently written right around 1920, and about a real woman, so it's not out of the question that Rosie McCann could still be alive in 1999.
The melody, BTW, is from a much older Scottish song called "Gilderoy", first published in 1650, and again in 1707.
really laughed a lot at this wonderful lady enjoying herself. Superb. Sorry to hear she is gone. I am originally from Bnabridge town...live in Scotland now, but miss it every day.
not a drop...........she was blessed(or should i say WE were blessed) with a mischievious, child-like sense of humor that remained with her all of her 86 years!
just flicking through youtube and came across this, really nice, i love this song, may your mother rest in peace, i also moved to the u.s from ireland but now live in new york, goodluck :>
Thanks for sharing the video with and best wishes to you for loving and taking care of your Mom.
