EA tries to make the game realistic enough to be in the ballpark so enough people who haven't really cracked 2k8s learning curve can argue that Live doesnt suck. Once you crack 2k8s learning curve and understand that the players have realistic speed which you can test and confirm in the practice gym the game makes Live look like its five years old.
